Hearing from the students of BIT Sindri, I am convinced that it is a good enough college, it was once among the top ranking engineering colleges in India. Though for some time it lost its touch but that was also for a short period of time. With the selection of a newly elected Director Prof. D.K. Singh, the college returned to its former glory.

We as students witnessed all the changes that took place in the 2 to 3 months period. The college gradually was growing and improving. 

If you are a student who likes larger and luxurious fests and events, this may not be the college for you. The institute holds several literary contests such as debate, essay writing, extempore, etc. But it lacks in organising cultural fests for students. 

Institute is located outside the city. Students have to go to the city for an outing, which is 2 hours away from campus. There are several rules imposed on first-year students. They are not allowed to roam around campus, and students have to use the back door of the premises to enter or leave.

First-year students have to share a room with five other roommates. It will not be convenient for someone who demands personal space. But the by-passing time you will become familiar with it. Seniors are quite helpful and interact with first-year students. However, the connection between senior and juniors cannot be seen in the starting months.

Therefore, if you are thinking of joining BIT Sindri then you must go for it. Along with good placement, it also provides a good environment for study. All the facilities, infrastructure of BIT Sindri are in good condition. So you will not regret joining it.

Mining Engineering at BIT Sindri is managed by one of the reputed professors Dr. UK Dey. He has immense knowledge of the subject and was a gold medalist of his times. Under his presence, the branch has flourished in a better way. Considering few other factors like faculty, facilities, placements, etc. will help you in analyzing how is the mining branch at BIT Sindri.

Faculty: Initially, BIT Sindri lacked experienced faculties but the recruitment of new faculties with M.Tech and Ph.D. degrees from IITs and NITs has improved the teaching scenario of the college. 

Labs and Infrastructure: The college is equipped with well-structured labs that will help you in the advancement of your curriculum. The mining building is well equipped with better technical facilities. 

Training Opportunities: The college focuses on the overall career development of their students and that is why they organize surface and metal mining vocational training at various PSUs and private organizations. 

Placements: The college has a pretty decent placement record. Companies like L&T, DMT, etc. visit the college for recruitment purposes. The average package offered ranges between 5-8 lacs. 

Attendance: In Mining Engineering, attendance is not a major issue and you get optimum time to prepare for competitive exams like GATE, CAT, etc. 

Other Opportunities: Being at BIT Sindri, you will definitely get opportunities to participate in national-level mining events. So, if you want to get enough exposure, BIT Sindri will help you at its best.

Mining Engineering at BIT Sindri will definitely not offer spoon feed and bring you everything on the table. If you want to learn and get exposure, you will have to work hard. Mining Engineering at BIT Sindri itself has a reputation. So, if you are choosing the branch, make sure you study hard and make your way to success.

BIT Sindri mechanical is way better than that of many NITs and maybe some less popular IITs. Though the lab is very old still its machinery is in good condition. 

Facilities-

BIT Sindri offers great facilities and types of machinery such as a wind tunnel, and other automobiles.

• Wind Tunnel is an apparatus where models of submarines, airplanes, and other automobiles are tested to ensure that the prototypes will be working the same way as their respective models. This machine is huge and maybe you would have never seen it in your life. 
• The honeycomb maze section of the apparatus is likely to blow your mind. 
• It has been exported from IISC Bangalore, and till now even ISM does not have it.

Birsa Institute of Technology or BIT Sindri is the best college to study Mechanical Engineering. 

Thus, if you are looking to study Mechanical Engineering then BIT Sindri would be a good option. Along with good infrastructure, it also has skilled faculty and good placement. So, you can join it without any doubt.

Yes, you can take IT in BIT Sindri easily with a common merit rank in JCECE. In usual circumstances, a candidate can even get Chemical Engineering in the second round of counseling.

There are students who consider their life at BIT Sindri to be as glorious as expected, with several memories and campus stories. The government is taking a lot of initiatives to regain the glory of BIT Sindri, which is a positive aspect at present.

According to recent data, BIT Sindri’s production, metallurgy, and chemical engineering departments have good scope for placement in core companies.

First of all, it is one of the most sought out branches here in BIT Sindri, so definitely if you are studying CSE and the world of coding fascinates you then go for it. Without a doubt, I can say that if you are good at coding and you are really passionate about it then the college doesn't matter much because there are many good online courses and competitions available to prove your skills.

In terms of placements, you will be placed, but not in the companies you desire. Metallurgical engineering clearly outperforms the competition. To be honest, production and chemicals are not great, but it also depends on the person, as I have seen my seniors from these branches get placements in Vedanta and Tata with good salary packages.

In 1st year in engineering at BIT Sindri, you are not required to buy books. You can take help from your seniors. You can buy books for GATE/IES preparation. But for the 1st year of Engineering, you can take books from the library or borrow from your seniors.

One of my cousins studied at Birsa Institute of Technology, Sindri, in B.Tech throughout his year he only bought core subjects of IT books such as Operating Systems, C++, DAA, Software Project Management, Data Structure, Java, AI, etc. Rest of the books he gets from his seniors. 

Therefore, for first-year engineering at Birsa Institute of Technology, Sindri, you don’t need to buy books. You can always take help from your seniors asking them for notes, or borrow books from them, or get it from the college library.
