What is the difference between PGDM full time and PGDM Finance at IMT Ghaziabad?

SA
Sakshi Ahuja Posted On : April 12th, 2021
PGDM Full Time, graduated in 2019

An acquaintance of mine completed his PGDM from IMT Ghaziabad so hopefully, he would be able to answer your question accurately.

  • In the case of PGDM full-time, you will be capable of choosing your own area of specialization, be it marketing, finance, or HR at the end of the first year.
  • In the case of PGDM finance, your area has already has been chosen for you and will not be able to change it.
  • Irrespective of the specializations, the first year is common for each and every student. PGDM students can choose their desired area of specialization at the end of the first year.

The college management may ask full-time students to choose their specialization area before their placements for summer internships which are usually 3-4 months of joining even though technically you can choose your major by the end of the first year. My acquaintance had to choose his major before his summer internship placements.

If you choose PGDM Full time, then you will be able to choose your specialization from:

  • Marketing
  • Finance
  • Information Management and Analytics
  • Operations Management
  • Human Resources
  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship

If you go for PGDM finance, you will have to learn the electives and core subjects of finance in your second year.

what is the cnpi process in IMT-Ghaziabad?

CL
Carolyn Lionel Posted On : April 17th, 2021
Studied at Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (2019)

IMT Ghaziabad is one of the most popular colleges for MBA. To get admission here, you have to appear for MBA entrance exams like CAT, XAT, GMAT, and CMAT. On clearing those you can apply for IMT Ghaziabad and its various branches in Nagpur, Hyderabad, and Dubai. Further, for the selection, you need to go through a few stages which include Critical thinking, Group Exercise, and Personal Interview.

It consists of three simple stages as CT-GE-PI and Common Application form for its final selection process.

The Critical Thinking Test:

  • After arrival and registration of the shortlisted candidates, there will be a thorough long Critical Thinking Test for the duration of 30 minutes.
  • This will boil down on three parameters - critical thinking, written communication skills, and innovation & creativity.

Group Exercise:

  • After the critical thinking test, the candidates will be divided into small groups for the Group Exercise.
  • The group will be given a problem to solve or a task to perform, which they must do together while discussing among themselves.
  • For instance, they might be asked to do a short case study, solve a puzzle, or solve a business problem.
  • This will take approximately 30 minutes and will evaluate the candidate on four parameters – contribution of ideas, leadership potential, interpersonal skills and communication & attitude.

Personal Interview:

  • Post the Group Exercise, the candidate will have a personal interview of approximately 15 minutes, during which he/she will be evaluated on four parameters: domain knowledge, communication skills, versatility (extra-curricular/general awareness), as well as values & maturity.
  • Work Experience candidates will be additionally evaluated on the relevance of their work experience in relation to the PGDM program.

The final merit of the candidate will be a cumulative weighted average which has the Academic Scores, Work Experience, and the scores obtained during the CT-GE-PI process.

Both merit and campus score cut-offs will be the foundation of selection for IMT campuses, i.e. Ghaziabad, Nagpur, Hyderabad, and Dubai.

How much percentile do I need to get a call from MDI Gurgaon, IMT Ghaziabad, IIM K, SP Jain, NITIE?

AB
Aditi Bhardwaj Posted On : March 7th, 2023
MBA in Marketing, Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (Graduated 2018)

To secure admission to top MBA institutes in India, you should aim for CAT percentiles from 85 onwards. Here's the order of the institutes you should target in descending order - IIM K with 97+ percentile, MDI with 96+, IMT Ghaziabad with 90+, SPJain with 85+, and NITIE with as high as possible sectional-wise.

Even though SPJain is a premier institute, it gives a call from the 85 percentile onward, since they focus on overall values that an individual possesses and want students with more values in them. They have 2 group interviews, so they follow a rejection procedure.

NITIE has a sectional cutoff, so it's advisable to have as high as possible sectional-wise, as many people with an overall CAT percentile in the range of 97-98 were not selected in either of their 2 programs(PGDM and PGDIESM) in 2016.

IIM K also has a sectional cutoff of 90+, so it's important to score well in each section.

It's worth noting that these institutes do not have a sectional cutoff, but it's always advisable to have a 90+ sectional percentile to be on the safer side. Aim for high percentile and sectional scores to improve your chances of securing a seat in these prestigious institutes.

What are the group exercise topics in IMT Ghaziabad?

AP
Atanu Patil Posted On : March 24th, 2021
PGDM Finance - Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad

IMT Ghaziabad offers group exercise topics which basically require team approach and ability to complete a particular exercise within the time period as mentioned. However, it is not GD where an individual is seen to dominate over the other members of the team, but it is all about team endeavor and about people acquiring equal chance to speak.

You should try maintaining a healthy environment throughout the discussion, and come to the completion of every single topic as assigned with a good source of effort.

The group will likewise be provided with a personalised topic or a task to perform within the allocated time. Alongside, after the topic is being assigned, they are expected to run discussions among their group members. For instance, the group members might be asked to perform a brief case study, or solve a specific problem, or tackle a circumstance risen in some business areas.

Having said that, it can particularly range from anything and is supposed to take 30 minutes which later will estimate the candidate’s performance based on four distributive parameters, namely, contribution of ideas, leadership potential, interpersonal skills and communication and attitude.

. You are only required to enjoy and consume the procedure as much as you can, because, becoming totally clueless on site can be one point which might affect your presence. You can however try to become more engaging and contributive to the ideas, in spite of having little knowledge of the topic itself.

Is it a better option to join any of the old IIMs after completing one year at IMT Ghaziabad?

LD
Lipika Deshpandey Posted On : March 9th, 2021
PGDM from Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (2016)

The answer is completely dependent on the course that the student is doing or taking admission at IMI Ghaziabad, along with the placement record of that institute.

If the student is looking for and thinking of doing a Marketing course, it is important to search the institute's placement record. It can be mentioned that IT and HR track towards a good placement assurance. For Finance batch, the student must have scored top or has to do many remarkable things to get job opportunities from the excellent companies in the campus recruitment process. Otherwise, the placement will be average.

Besides, if the student gets admission to an institute that the well known for Finance (B/C/I), it will be valuable to take a year’s strike. However, if the student is concerned about marketing, it will be better to have one year of working experience to get a better placement, even from A/B/L/I. In the case of HR and IT students, giving one year gap will not be valued at all because lots of companies recruit from IIMs, so it will be better if the student adds a year to his or her resume.

Thus, this answer might be helpful for the students as this trend is still somewhat present in each student's mind.

Converted IMT Ghaziabad or IMI Delhi PGDM, which one should I prefer?

RS
Rishabh Sharma Posted On : February 16th, 2023
Faculty: Marketing Area at International Management Institute (2014–present)

When selecting a business school, there are certain assumptions to keep in mind. These assumptions are valid for all top business schools, at least for the top 20. Consider the following assumptions and evaluate which business schools align closest with your preferences:

  • Assumption 1: Business schools are student-driven, meaning that the success of the school depends largely on the students, clubs, events, committees, placements, and fests and not on faculty, infrastructure, or knowledge capital. The bigger and more active the student body, the better. Classrooms are a facilitator of knowledge dissemination, but the greater good of the school is found in the activities outside the classroom.
  • Assumption 2: Alumni play a key role in the success of a business school, which is why schools like FMS, JBIMS, and IMT Ghaziabad thrive.
  • Assumption 3: The activities you choose to participate in at a business school can be largely classified into (1) clubs and committees, (2) business school events, and (3) a focus on academics only and a good CGPA.
  • Assumption 4: The location of a business school has marginal advantages, such as Delhi or Mumbai types.
  • Assumption 5: Rankings do not matter for the top 10-15 schools.

Which is better, IMI Delhi PGDM or IMT-G PGDM Finance?

AB
Ankit Bhansali Posted On : March 3rd, 2023
MBA from International Management Institute (Graduated 2021)

Both the options you mentioned, IMI Delhi PGDM and IMT G Finance are good in their own individual aspects. So you should rather be asking which is better for you. Now this depends on what you really want from your PGDM. By choosing PGDM Finance you will limit yourself only to the Finance sector, whereas a PGDM core will give you a chance to explore various domains before selecting your specialization. The former is a good option if you are certain about your interest in Finance and want to excel in that sector no matter what while the latter is good if you are open to all options.

Talking about IMI Delhi in general, the B School offers an abundance of opportunities through student bodies and other student driven activities. Moreover the additional locational advantage is what makes it a fairly good option. The batch size is also not too big and thus balances the student teacher ratio.

Placements are pretty decent at IMI Delhi. The IMI Delhi average package (overall) offered during 2023 placements was INR 17.01 LPA. For PGDM, PGDM (B&FS), and PGDM (HR) the average package stood at INR 17.20 LPA, INR 16.48 LPA, and INR 15.58 LPA, respectively.

The primary highlight of the B School is its student exchange program wherein students from foreign universities join the B School for a fixed period while students from IMI Delhi visit a foreign university in exchange.

All these factors make IMI Delhi a very good choice in comparison to IMT G.
