The answer is yes, as there are separate hostels for the 1st year. If you have taken admission to NIT Raipur, you have to accept the seat. You will also have to fill up a form for hostel accommodations. 

• The seat numbers are limited in comparison to the student’s number. Due to this, the college administration provides seats and hostel allotments as per the students' rank. Seats are reserved for the students from state and reserve categories.
• Hostels A, B, C, D, and F have a dining hall and recreation hall, that is equipped with Television, and some indoor games like carrom and table tennis. 
• Hostel H has a fully furnished dining and recreation hall with well-resourced indoor games and other facilities. However, all hostels are enough well-equipped with the necessities of the students.

Another important thing is that there are only 4 hostels with a maximum capacity of 100 students in NIT Raipur for the first-year students. Each of them includes two types of hostel with two bedding facilities or three bedding facilities in each room. 

Hostel allotment is mainly done as per the student’s All India Rankings, and 25% is reserved for the state students and reserve categories. But, from the second year, based on the Cumulative Pinter Index, hostel allotment is done.

Considering this question following particulars are be listed that will be beneficial for the student to choose their career options.

• If a student considers the On-Campus Recruitment process, studying Mechanical in NIT Patna will be beneficial for them.
• If the student wants to prepare for Government Exams like UPSC exams, including IAS or IPS, they can go for NIT Raipur.
• However, both of these subjects are quite interesting.

NIT Raipur has better NIRF Rankings as compared to NIT Patna. The mechanical department has shown great development in terms of placements. Top companies have visited the campus for the recruitment process.

One of my acquaintances who has graduated from VNIT has asked me to choose my institute by keeping the following points in mind.

• VNIT for metallurgy would be a suitable choice for you if you don’t have a particular liking. Apart from that, the metallurgy of VNIT holds an enviable position in India. The syllabus for metallurgy is vast and involves a lot of memorization.
• If you want CS and unfortunately end up not getting it, the next logical step would be to choose IT. The syllabus of IT and CS are almost the same. In the big picture, it will have little importance if you complete your B.Tech from VNIT or NIT Raipur. You will have a degree and you will not regret the decision you made.

IT has a lot of scopes. Later down the road, if you want to continue with your higher studies, you will be capable of switching to almost any department pertaining to computers. IT from NIT Raipur is an excellent choice.

The scope in the metallurgy sector is limited nowadays. It is obviously your call, though. There is vast scope in IT like research, job, etc.

When I asked a senior of mine the same question, she told me to exclude NIT Raipur. The reason is, NIT Raipur is one of the newer institutes and to be considered worthy, the institute has to improve a lot.

The other two institutes, however, would be a tough call.

My senior said BIT Mesra is slightly ahead of NIT Hamirpur just because the former has been around for much longer than the latter.

Despite all that, NIT Hamirpur is located in pleasant surroundings. In addition to that, it will also give you the NIT tag and is an INI. So, in the case of comparison by merit, it all depends on who has the higher cut-off in a particular session.

NIT Hamirpur is also a new NIT and it is improving with each day. On the other hand, the quality of education, placements in the electrical branch of NIT Raipur are going down with each passing day.

Both the branches are great in their own way, however, Computer Science holds an edge over ECE. Check out the following reasons to know why.

• You will not be solely dependent on college for learning skills. CSE/IT students have broader prospectus outside college too, due to coding culture and other such skills. You will not be bound by the 'IIT-NIT' thing.
• Most IT companies come for campus recruitment. Therefore, you’ll be given preference if you belong to the CSE branch.

• Any NIT/IIT/IIIT is good for computer science as it does not require much hardware equipment. Just the provision of computers is enough. Hence, choosing computer science over core subjects will make your academic life easy too. Choosing this branch may also get you equal value to an IITian.

Undoubtedly, choosing CSE will be much beneficial to you in terms of placement, facilities, and additional skills.
