Both NIT Bhopal and PEC Chandigarh are very good for CSE and provide many facilities to its students. Out of both of them, I would recommend you to choose NIT Bhopal over PEC Chandigarh due to the following reasons.
Hence, NIT Bhopal is a better institute than PEC Chandigarh and provides all the facilities and the proper environment to students without much load of studies. So, it is better to choose NIT Bhopal over PEC Chandigarh.
If you are an OBC aspirant and want to fetch a seat in CSE MNNIT Allahabad, you need to score above 205 marks in your JEE Mains. If you score anywhere near 170 marks or above, there is a possibility that you will get a seat in the spot round of the counseling.
According to the recent trend, the required cutoff for OBC quota students for CSE at MNNIT Allahabad is as follows.
Category |
Cutoff |
|
HS |
OS |
|
OBC |
679-1164 |
807-1468 |
OBCPwD |
27 |
49 |
However, it completely depends on the basis of vacant seats available and the number of aspirants claiming for the seat.
Rather than comparing both programs, I am just going to talk about why I think IIT Mandi is an excellent choice for you
So without much hesitation, go for IIT Mandi!
Although both programs are offered by prestigious institutes, I prefer CSE at MNIT to electrical at IIT Mandi. Considering only the branches it’s not a brainer that CSE offers much better placement opportunities than Electrical. I am not saying IIT Mandi placements are not good, it's just that they cannot be compared to MNNIT CSE placements.
I would suggest that you go for CSE at MNNIT rather than Electrical at IIT Mandi. Yes, you will miss the much coveted IIT tag but trading it with an NIT tag, better college life, and excellent placement opportunities is not a bad deal right? The moment you sit for placements and start receiving excellent packages in contrast to your counterpart electricals, you will realize how wise your decision to choose CSE was.
Both IIT Hyderabad and IIT Madras are well-recognized institutions in India. However, opting for Computer Science at IIT Hyderabad or Mechanical at IIT Madras completely depends on your choice, interest, and career goals.
You should be trying something related to Algorithms. Try better than simple Java-related projects like CMS, Library Management System, Job Portal, etc. Be focused on algorithms or machine details. If you are thinking of algorithms, you can take a look at some of the mini-projects hosted by students.
In my friend’s recent conversation with a faculty member of the department, he discussed the trend of students getting away doing simple application-level projects during their B.Tech.
Students who were ready to take up good system-level projects like those related to Linux kernel, networks, compilers, etc. are not wanting to do the same later.
It's engineering that you are trying to learn, application development can be done by anyone. So, you don't have to go through 80% of the courses for that.
According to the latest statistics, UIET offers decent placements to CS undergraduate students. Some of the top recruiters during the placement drive in the year 2021 were Vedanta, Tata Power, Amazon, American Express, Goldman, Samsung, and Hindustan Unilever.
If we compare the packages with the top recruiters you can see as follows:
Particulars |
2021 |
2020 |
Number of students placed |
286 |
304 |
Average package |
INR 6.45 LPA |
INR 6.39 LPA |
Highest package |
INR 31 LPA |
INR 41 LPA |

Lastly, we can say that UIET, being a central funded college under Panjab University offers some good placements to the students though as compared to 2020 placement the highest package offered was less that depends upon market and other factors associated with it.
It’s hard to say if you will get in or not. While 2,040 is a perfectly good score on its own, last year's closing rank was 2,092. But the cut off varies every year, so it’s a possibility that you may get in. You can even get into IIT Bhubaneswar in the very 1st round if luck favors. Don’t be disappointed if you can’t get in as there are also other IITs like IIT Ropar and IIT Jodhpur where you can try to get admission.
Also if you scored below 3000 in JEE Mains then you can go for IIIT Hyderabad. For CSE IIIT, Hyderabad ranks along with top IITs like IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi. So if you can secure a place in IIT Hyderabad, you should go for it. As there's a good possibility you can bag good job offers as an IITian from IIT Bombay or Delhi. Although the tag of IIT adds a certain value to your degree in the end it’s skills that matter most. So make your decision wisely.
My knowledge is limited to IIT Patna CSE as my brother studies there and his frequent narrations have given me a good insight of the institute. But trust me after going through the points you won’t consider IIT Gandhinagar or NIT Allahabad anymore.
So I would say go for IIT Patna!
CGC Landran is a great option for a B.Tech in CSE. It has a motivating campus environment and it is known for its excellent placements. Around 98 percent of students from the CSE branch get placed each year. According to CGC Landran placement highlights the highest CTC offered by the students is around INR 40 LPA. Major MNCs such as Microsoft, Google, IBM, HCL, etc. attend the placement drive.
