What is the approximate net expenses at ISB Hyderabad and in general how much of it is covered through scholarships?

AV
Atul Prakash Verma Posted On : January 30th, 2023
Professor of Finance at Indian School of Business (2010–present)

The ISB MBA program has many expenses. The major cost components in descending order are

  • Tuition and Housing fees: These fees are also stated at the beginning of the session. These expenses can be covered by the scholarships that are offered to merit students.
  • Meal expenses: These expenses vary from person to person depending on their taste and preference. You can either opt for the meal options provided by the food or keep a cook that can make your everyday meals. Another way to survive is to eat outside and spend money.
  • Personal expenses: Another cost head is your own expenses like eating or hanging out, phone bills, and transportation to and fro from your college.
  • Books and Miscellaneous: Your study material and extra expenses account for the books, class content, and other stationery.

As far as the scholarships are concerned, ISB Hyderabad offers no Institute-based scholarships. Only need or merit-based scholarships are offered to almost 1 out of 3 students. But these scholarships cover only 20-25% of the total cost and the rest has to be covered through personal funding or loans.

What is the lowest GMAT score allowed admission to ISB Hyderabad?

SD
Saunak Dasgupta Posted On : May 22nd, 2021
ISB Hyderabad

GMAT is the only criteria for selection at ISB. The admission team checks your complete profile in terms of leadership potential, teamwork, quality of experience, etc. They also look for diversity.

The chances of a person getting admission in ISB with a GMAT score of 570 is very much hypothetical. In reality, something like this stands for an exception only. On average you will need a Mean GMAT score of 710 in order to get admission at ISB.

It’s necessary that you will be able to communicate with international professors and colleagues on and off-campus. You should be able to participate and add value to the class case studies and curriculum. Additionally, they also check if you can be able to cope up with the intense one-year program. This is where GMAT and grades fit in - it’s almost a benchmark of the academic capabilities.

Your profile has to satisfy all of these criteria for your admission. It would be a worthwhile effort to interact with ISB alumni for an evaluation of your complete profile for applying to ISB. You should be well aware as to why are you choosing to pursue MBA at the current juncture in your career.

ES
Ekta Singh Posted On : February 14th, 2023
ISB Hyderabad

When it comes to internships at ISB Hyderabad, there are two main types that students can pursue.

The first type of internship is through the various departments within the school. These opportunities can be found by regularly checking the websites of the relevant departments and by directly contacting them to inquire about any available internship openings.

The second type of internship is through individual professors. These opportunities are typically arranged through direct communication with the professor, although the ratio of successful applications to total applications is relatively low, typically around 50 to 1. It is important to be patient when applying for internships through professors.

If you are interested in pursuing an internship at ISB, it is important to set aside at least 3 months in order to have enough time to research and apply for the various opportunities available.

Does ISB Hyderabad offer summer internships ?

NB
Nikita Bose Posted On : May 27th, 2021
MBA Marketing & Operations, ISB Hyderabad

The flagship PGP course is a one-year course and thus there are no summer internships offered by ISB Hyderabad. And the students pursuing this course have an average work experience of around 5 years and a minimum work experience of around 20 months. So basically there is no need for an internship.

But there is a similar kind of program known as the Experiential Learning Program (ELP). This is a group project and they will select you if you show any interest in the project. These kinds of projects usually comprise around 4-5 people, according to the company's requirements. They make a project according to their interests and if they are selected, then they get the chance to do ELP with that company. You need to work on this project throughout your 8 terms, whenever possible, and also you have to work full time in your term breaks.

The company's manager gives feedback on your project and this remark is also included in your final year mark sheet. This is a very important project and will have a major impact in deciding your final year grade.

Is there a specialization for Human Resource Management at the ISB in Hyderabad?

AJ
Arshit Jain Posted On : February 14th, 2023
Professional and Adviser of HR Observations

It is important to note that the Indian School of Business (ISB) does not offer a specific course structure that trains students to become Human Resource Managers. The Post Graduate Program in Management (PGP) at ISB is a general management program that covers various aspects of business, including human resources. However, the Fellow Program in Management does have an area called Organizational Behaviour and Strategy which is closely related to Human Resource Management.

While at ISB, students have the opportunity to take subjects related to human resources such as Strategy and Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Healthcare, Public Policy, and Strategic Performance Management. Additionally, ISB hosts a 2-3 day program for executives that focuses on linking human resources with business strategy. However, this program cannot be considered a specialization.

If you are specifically looking to specialize in Human Resource Management, you may want to consider other business schools such as the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, XLRI Jamshedpur, Xavier Institute of Management Bhubhaneshwar, or Xavier Institute of Social Service Ranchi, which offer full-time courses in Human Resource Management. Additionally, there are short certification programs offered by organizations such as Talent Management Institute, HR Certification Institute, Society for Human Resource Management, and Human Capital Institute, which could be a good option for working professionals looking to change their field of work or add HR credentials to their CVs. These programs are also cheaper than regular full-time courses.
