IIM Bangalore has made revisions to the shortlisting process for PGP 2024-2026. The weightage for different qualification stages to shortlist candidates for an interview has been revised. Accordingly, class 12th marks have been allotted a 15% weightage. Class 10th marks have been allotted a 15% weightage as well and the CAT scores have been allotted a 55% weightage.
Getting a 90+ in class 12th will improve your chances of getting a call from IIM Bangalore. However, 10th marks, CAT scores, and gender diversity have a weightage as well.
Gender diversity has been allotted a 5% weightage and work experience will benefit you immensely as it will carry a 10% weightage.
No weightage has been assigned for academic diversity.
Even for the final selection of the 2024-2026 batch, class 12th marks will carry 10% weightage.
IIM Bangalore will thus shortlist the candidates for an interview if they perform well in all the above criteria. Your 12th score is good but other qualifications will also be considered during the shortlisting process.
As one of my friends studied at IIM Bangalore, I can say that it certainly does give special percentage weightage to how much you have scored in your 10th, 12th, and graduation.
IIM Bangalore has always been clear about the percentage. But then, you should also realize that this weightage criteria changes with each passing year. It's not constant nor any standard is set.
If you have a score of 90+ in your 10th and 12th standard along with an 8+ GPA in graduation, you can still anticipate a call. However, you would only be eligible once you clear your CAT examination and you also show work experience as well. IIM B always gives preference to candidates with work experience, unlike the other IIMs.
