B.Tech Mining Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad

For Mining, you should choose ISM. It is the best campus for the branch. The syllabus followed at the institute is rigorous. The research culture is better too. It has the best alumni base in the Mining industry. You will be able to make excellent contacts.

There are many Mining industry headquarters located in Dhanbad. So, it’s easy to get hands-on experience.

The placement averages around 100%. In the recent placement drive, the maximum salaries were offered by Coal India, Caterpillar, etc. which was INR 15-20 LPA.

ISM is famous for mining because the syllabus of ISM mining is thorough and taxing. It will help you land in core companies but there will be few opportunities in non-core companies. ISM is also in proximity to many mines industries headquarters which helps in placements. It also has a great alumni base. The majority of companies that visit for placement in the core-sector are PSUs like MECON Ltd, Coal India Ltd. According to 2019 placement statistics, Mining Engineering had the highest placement record of 91.89%. The average CTC offered to the students of this branch was around 14.4 LPA. Private companies also visit the campus like Tata, Orica, Vedanta, Ambuja Cement, and Reliance providing a package ranging between 5.5-11 lakhs per annum.

IIT BHU mining has a less rigorous and taxing syllabus than ISM mining, it will give you opportunities to explore other career opportunities as well. In 2019, 85 students from Mining Engineering got a placement offer in IIT BHU. The average CTC offered at this IIT was 8.19 lakh and the highest CTC went up to 1.04 Crore.
