According to me, IIT Gandhinagar will be the best choice for pursuing M.Tech in chemical engineering as compared to ICT Mumbai, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Guwahati, IIT Varanasi, ISM Dhanbad, and IIT Hyderabad.
  • IIT Gandhinagar holds a high rank of 18th under NIRF Ranking.
  • This itself suggests the great reputation of the college.
  • This institute is well equipped with facilities such as labs, instruments, chemicals, and experienced faculty who guide the students.
  • The curriculum of M.Tech in Chemical Engineering has been well designed to meet the industry's needs.
  • Each year top companies such as Dabur, Bharat Petroleum, Flipkart, Amul, and Amazon visit the college to recruit students.
  • In 2023, the average salary for this department was INR 19.60 LPA and the median salary was INR 8.49 LPA.

In my opinion, IMT Mumbai is an excellent choice for MTech in Chemical Engineering. The best part about this college is its easy admission criteria that accept GATE rank 700-800 with an additional provision of the waiting list. Usually, 5-6 waiting lists get cleared.

Here are a few points regarding the Institute

  • Curriculum: ICT has its own curriculum with a one-year classroom program. You won’t be learning any software like Matlab, Asphen, Hysis, etc., unlike IITs. The 2nd year is for lab work. One can even opt for a PhD abroad while pursuing their Masters but it largely depends on the quantum and quality of research.
  • Fees: ICT Mumbai MTech in Chemical Engineering total fees is INR 1.42 L which is slightly higher than other IITs. Also, accommodation is done on the basis of rank and thus the waitlist students sometimes get accommodated quite late.
  • Placements: Placements depend more on the individual's capabilities than the institute's worth and credibility. So it’s better to brush up on your skills and prepare well for the interview.
  • Stipend: You will not receive your stipend regularly but can expect it around December.

All in all, ICT Mumbai has an excellent infrastructure and offers all amenities necessary for top-quality education.
