Some of the most famous IIT BHU alumni are:-

  • Nikesh Arora - Nikesh holds a B Tech Degree in Electrical Engineering. He is an Indian- American executive. He is the current CEO and Chairman of Palo Alto Networks. He was formerly a Google senior executive. He is one of the highest-paid executives in the World.
  • Gyanesh Pandey - Gyanesh is an Electrical Engineer. He wanted to work in remote villages, for which he left his job in Los Angeles. He established Husk Power System (HPS), which produces electricity using rice husk as raw material. His startup is currently responsible for powering tens of thousands of rural Indian households, which are off the electricity grid of the state board. His story is a truly inspiring one.
  • Vinod Kumar Bansal - Vinod is a pass out from the Metallurgical Department. He is famous for starting the Bansal Coaching classes in Kota. This idea led to the transformation of Kota into an education pilgrimage.
  • Pulickel Madhavapanicker Ajayan - Mr. Ajayan topped his class and gained a B Tech degree in Metallurgy. He has 2 Guinness World Records to his name - one for creating the smallest brush and one for the darkest material. He is also famous for inventions such as - “paper battery”, carbon nanotubes, a paint-on battery design, and many more. He has published 400+ research papers and has numerous awards to his name.
  • Sandeep Pandey - He is a social activist, who co-founded Asha - an NPO for educating the underprivileged. He leads the NAPM, an umbrella organization, which is the largest network of people's movement in India. He is also known for his efforts towards the RTI. He was awarded the Raman Magsaysay award for Emergent Leadership.
  • Thomas Anantharaman - Thomas has a B Tech Degree in Electronics Engineering. He was an AIR-2 in IIT-JEE. His work on chess-playing computers was the basis for Deep Blue - a computer that defeated Garry Kasparov(1997). He is also famous for Bayesian inference methods to solve NP-complete problems. He has been using these tools to further research on biostasis.
  • Varun Grover - Varun is a Civil Engineering graduate. He is a famous and talented Lyricist and inker. On multiple occasions, he was awarded the National Film Award for Best Lyricist or Best Lyrics. He has written songs for countless, famous Bollywood movies such as Masaan, Udta Punjab, Gangs of Wasseypur, etc.
