While choosing between MICA, IRMA, and XIMB, it's important to keep in mind that these institutions are very different from each other. They have different missions, visions, and outcomes. While XIMB is a general management institute, MICA and IRMA are focused on their respective domains.

If you're someone who is primarily driven by CTC and ROI, then it's important to think twice before opting for these niche programs based on general parameters. You might end up in something that you might not enjoy.

IRMA is the pioneer of rural management, with the aim of bringing about a change in the rural sector of the country through professional management. As a participant in the program, you'll learn all the principles of general management, along with social and liberal arts subjects. One of the unique features of IRMA is their three internship segments, which provide a different perspective on rural realities and society through a different lens.

By choosing IRMA, you can expect to have a rewarding career afterwards. However, keep in mind that the program is geared towards those who have a genuine interest in rural management and development. It's important to do your research and self-reflection to see if this program is the right fit for you.

Studied at MICA, Ahmedabad (2019)

MICA and IRMA offer unique specialization. XIMB on the other hand is just like any other business school which offers specialization common to every B-school. Go for MICA and IRMA only if you are determined about pursuing an MBA in marketing and rural management, respectively. However, if you are not quite sure, go for XIMB.

Placements are better in XIMB and MICA than IRMA. The top 20% of students in XIMB land at their dream jobs but, the bottom 20% somehow manage to get placed. There is no such difference at MICA.

If you look at the type of companies visiting the campuses of these institutions, you will find out that more banking jobs are offered at XIMB by great companies, whereas at MICA, there are more offers in the advertising and internet space.

At IRMA, you will find jobs focused on rural management, mostly.

  • Campus Life: MICA, among the three institutions provides the best campus life.
  • Batch Strength: If this concerns you and you believe that this impacts education quality, you should go for IRMA or MICA.

If advertising fascinates you and you want to explore the world of the media industry and are good at communication skills, if you want to have a great campus life and exposure to extra-curricular activities and sports, if diversity and gender ratio is your concern; join MICA.

If you are interested in rural technologies, medicinal plants, agriculture, unconventional energy, microfinance, banking for the priority sector in rural areas, if you are comfortable living in small cities, if tuition fees and batch size is your concern; join IRMA.

If you could not make it to a big brand such as IIM or XLRI and want to stand close to it, if you want a general management degree, if you wish to be in a highly competitive space, if you want to be open to work at any sector such as banking, FMCG, Internet, etc, if you are from Odisha domicile (since it is comparatively easier to get selected then); join XIMB.
