What happens at Ashoka University interviews?
The interview round of Ashoka University is usually casual. The aim of the interview is to check you are who you portrayed yourself as in the application. During the interview, they ask about books, movies, what are your strengths and weaknesses, etc. If you have any questions, you can ask then at the end of interview. Usually the interview duration is around 15 mins - 45 mins.

One of my friends applied to Ashika University and had her admission interview in 2020. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the interview was conducted via Zoom.
- First part was introduction. They asked questions about her background. She was asked to mention something about herself that wasn’t included in her application.
- There was a role-play exercise next. She had to act as a person from their outreach team and endorse the university.
- There were a few other questions regarding her hobbies, achievements, and failures.
The interview was 30 mins long. It is basically a normal conversation, through which they get to know you better.

Ashoka University is a liberal arts university and it provides interdisciplinary courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level in both science and humanities streams. The university focuses on holistic admission procedures. The admission is a three stage procedure. Stage one is Application reading and Shortlisting, stage two is Assessment and Interview and Stage three is Decisions and Financial aid. Among the admission stages, stage two is important wherein the students are interviewed. Their performance in the interview is a mandatory factor to get admission. The whole interview process in Ashoka University happens in three stages: Personal interview, On-the spot essay and an optional Ashoka Aptitude Test (AAT).
Personal Interview
The duration of the personal interview is about 30 to 40 minutes. The panel consists of 2 to 3 members. The interview begins with an ice breaking session followed by the self-introduction of the applicant. The questions asked in the interview are basic questions in the applicant's field. So, applicants should be well versed on the stream they have applied for. Another important thing is that interviewers check the honesty, confidence, interest and goals of the applicant. So, the applicant should say things that are genuine because the interview panel may counter question and verify the applicant’s statements.
On-the-spot essay
The second stage of the interview process is on-the spot essay. The students are given a duration of 30 minutes. There is no word limit and the topics for the essay include both abstract topics as well as opinion based. So, in-depth knowledge on current affairs helps one to write a good essay within the specified time limit.
Ashoka Aptitude Test (AAT)
Ashoka Aptitude Test is the final stage of the interview process. The aptitude test is an optional one. Aptitude test is conducted to check and analyse the applicant’s problem solving skills. The questions include logical reasoning, verbal and mathematical reasoning sections.
