Everyone has different interview experiences. Usually, IIM interviews take around 15-20 mins. At first, there’s usually an introduction round. Students are asked to talk about themselves. After the introduction, they usually move on to questions regarding academics, work experience, current affairs, etc.

Through the interview, they try to test your knowledge and capacity to handle pressure. During the interview, stay professional and try to answer the questions confidently.

During interview sessions in IIM, they are most interested in knowing about your state of mind and thought procedure. Most people have interviews for about 10-15 minutes. You can be called in various centers in India for the interview session.

  • First few questions will be regarding personal details such as hobbies, why that specific hobby.
  • The first part is more like a get-together session or like a warm-up session.
  • After that, they will transition into academics and towards your graduation. You will face a similar set of questions and will be judged according to it.
  • Sometimes there are more than 3 people but sometimes there are below 3 too. One asks the question and the second one just observes and sometimes intervenes.
  • Moving into the third phase they will inquire and get to know about why did you want a change in the field? Was it pre-planned or it was a rush decision.
  • They will also ask for your choice of college and the specific branch you want to get into. The main purpose of this is to know where you stand and what you want.
  • Then they can make decisions about giving you your choice of college or not.

The main thing to be noted during the interview is to stay friendly but also act professionally at the same time. Being confident with your answers will really help you a lot. The interview is easy, just answer without hesitation and it gets easier for both ends.
