Pursuing a PGPM (Post Graduate Program in Management) from IIM Ahmedabad at the age of 32 is a good choice depending on your individual circumstances, career goals, and personal aspirations. Here are some factors to consider:

  • Career Goals: If you’re from the marketing or management field the PGPM program will help you advance in your current field or transition to a new one.
  • Work Experience: Your 10 years of work experience can be an asset in the classroom, providing valuable insights and perspectives. It can also contribute to your networking opportunities.
  • Ranking & accreditation: It is the topmost management school in India according to the NIRF report 2023. It has ranked #1 among all top management colleges in India. Since 2010, the IIM Ahmedabad has received global accreditation from the EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS). It provides certified management courses in various specializations.
  • Career advancement: IIMs provide 100% placement, IIM Ahmedabad offers an average salary of INR 31 LPA in their campus placement. The highest packages are about 1 crore. There are several prestigious employers, including PepsiCo, Nestlé, Bayer, Olam, Yes Bank, Amul, UPL, FMC, Zepto, Iff, Licious, and Udaan. IIM Students can draw inspiration from outstanding leaders like Ajay Banga, who is presently the CEO of Mastercard and has also been nominated to run the World Bank. The alumni network is also quite strong.

It's important to note that many individuals pursue an MBA at various stages of their careers, including their 30s and 40s. Age alone should not deter you if you have clear goals and a strong motivation to pursue higher education. Ultimately, the choice to pursue an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad or any other institution should align with your unique circumstances and career aspirations. Consulting with career advisors, mentors, and individuals who have gone through a similar decision-making process can also provide valuable insights.

Studied at Amity University Noida (2019)

Yes, definitely you can go for it. One of my cousins did something similar and she highly recommends it because of the following reasons:

  • PGPM is a course made especially for experienced professionals, it’s not just a postgraduate course. Hence, it requires people who have good experience in their profession.
  • Your profile will be on a different level after doing PGPM and certainly, you can get a senior executive position.
  • There is a high chance that your connection with the corporates will increase with the help of alumni networks.
Categories PGP in Management at IIM Ahmedabad
Course Fee 23 lakhs
Highest CTC 80 LPA
Average CTC 21-35 LPA
Recruiting Companies Nestle, Godrej, KPMG, Yves Saint Laurent, etc.

Though the course is not really based on theories, it could be easier to manage the studies. As the transition from work to academics could take some time. Otherwise, there are no major problems.
