Does Thapar University provide GATE stipend?
Thapar University assigns 19 unreserved seats in each branch to GATE qualifiers. 11 seats are assigned to reserved category students and non GATE candidates. Generally these 11 seats remain empty. They are then filled with general category GATE qualifiers.
As a general category, if you are among the top 19 admits, you’ll receive the GATE stipend. But if you get admission in one of the remaining 11 seats, you won’t be eligible for the stipend.

M.E. or M.Tech students at Thapar University are eligible for AICTE approved stipend, provided they have valid GATE scores. For a course, Thapar University reserved 19 seats for GATE admission (General category). If you are in the top 19, you will receive a GATE stipend.
Students with valid GATE scores can also apply for additional scholarships. If you have a valid GATE score and you are receiving scholarships from AICTE or any other funding agency you can apply for an additional scholarship of INR 5,000 per month from TIET. If you have a valid GATE score and you are not getting funding from any agency, you will get a scholarship of INR 12,400 per month.
Students who aren’t GATE qualified, receive a scholarship of INR 10,000 per month for 10 months in an academic year.

Yes, Thapar University offers stipends to GATE-qualified students. As a general category student, you will only get a stipend, if you are among the top 19.
Thapar has 19 seats for the general category in a course for admission through GATE. Out of 19, 11 seats are reserved for non-GATE qualified students. When the reserved seats go empty, they take GATE-qualified students.

One of my friends graduated from Thapar University and he was able to provide some information regarding this. Thapar University does provide a GATE stipend.
The university has 19 seats for the general category in one course for GATE admission. And 11 seats are for the reservation and non-GATE joiners. Generally reserved seats go empty then they fill it with GATE scorers.
If you are from the general category and rank at least in the top 19 then you will get a GATE stipend.
If 19 seats of the general category are already filled out. Then you won't get it, doesn't matter if you are qualified.
