NITIE does accept candidates with a one-year gap in their education or work experience. In fact, the institute allows one year of experience and one year of a gap for studying for the GATE. What matters most to NITIE is your GATE score and your experience.

Many students take a break from their studies or work to prepare for competitive exams like GATE. This is a common practice, and NITIE recognizes that such gaps can be used to gain valuable experience or focus on exam preparation.

It's important to note that while NITIE does accept candidates with gaps and experience, the institute has specific admission criteria and cut-offs that must be met. So, it's crucial to check the institute's official website or contact the admissions office for more information on eligibility criteria and application procedures.

In summary, NITIE accepts candidates with one year of experience and one year of gap for GATE preparation, and it is the GATE score and experience that matter most. Taking a gap year for exam preparation is a common practice, and NITIE recognizes this fact. However, it's important to meet the institute's specific admission criteria to be considered for admission.

I have a few friends who graduated from NITIE Mumbai, and according to them, having a year gap should not be an issue for admission.

It does not affect your selection process in NITIE. Usually, the interview panel does not bother to ask about the gap period because they realize that the candidate must have prepared for GATE. Although, if asked, you should always mention your real reason as the panel can figure out the over-smart candidates. Most of the panelists are considerate of your gap period.

Work Experience is not necessary for getting admission, but the relevant work experience can give you an edge over the others and even in the future classroom learnings at NITIE.

Many students and alumni of NITIE had a year of experience along with a year gap. Such profiles never act as a barrier to get admission unless you fail to justify your reason and stand by it.
