IIEST Shibpur (WB) would be the better option in terms of pursuing engineering. In terms of placement, faculty, ranking, and academic excellence IIEST, Shibpur is much better than NIT. Though both institutions have proven their excellence but few reasons to choose IIEST, Shibpur are as follows:

  • Reputation and Rankings: IIEST Shibpur is the second oldest engineering college in India and ranks 35th by NIRF in 2023 among top engineering colleges in India.
  • Programs Offered: IIEST offers a wide range of programs in engineering, science, and management, but it's most renowned for its B.E, M.E, BTech, and MTech programs.
  • Infrastructure: IIEST boasts well-equipped classrooms, high-speed internet, a vast library, 17 hostels, a sports complex, and research labs.
  • Placements: Both colleges have good placements, with top companies visiting for recruitment.

NIT's placement rates can vary depending on the specific campus (e.g., Warangal, Trichy, or Surathkal). IIEST Shibpur tends to provide better placements compared to some NIT branches.

IIEST, Shibpur would be an excellent choice for mechanical engineering study, to sum up. With its well-established reputation for ages, qualified teachers, job prospects, and a well-equipped campus. It fosters an environment that is favorable for both academic and personal development.

IIEST, Shibpur is the second oldest engineering college in India and stands at a rank of 19 by NIRF in 2019, making it one of the top eligible colleges for pursuing Engineering in India. While it also offers graduate and undergraduate programs in science and management, it most popularly is known for its B.E, M.E, BTech, and M.Tech programs.

On the other hand, NIT has 31 campuses across India all of which are considered to be colleges of national importance and are even compared to the standards of IITs. It is also known for its engineering programs especially in computer science technology and Electronics Engineering.

Infrastructure:

  • In terms of college facilities, IIEST is known for its well-equipped classrooms, high-speed internet across the campus, huge library, a total of 17 hostels, a sports complex, research labs, and a beautiful academic campus surrounded by nature that helps create an ideal environment for students to study.
  • NIT also has a great campus with 18 student hostels, smart classrooms, and a sports complex but if you are someone who is looking for a course that has to do with research, then IIEST, Shibpur is surely preferable considering it has a more research-oriented approach and facilities which comparatively, NIT lacks.

Placements:

The placements in both colleges are highly popular in terms of companies visiting and the average salary but then we also have to consider which NIT campus we are comparing IIEST to. If we are going to talk about top NIT campuses in Warangal, Trichy, or Surthakal then surely the placement rates are higher. But compared to other NIT branches, IIEST Shibpur surely has a greater chance of providing better placements.

Since all the NIT’s are different and ranked based on their individual relevance, it is better to make a well-informed choice by comparing your preferred choice to IIEST. If you are looking for a course with good research work and decent placements then IIEST, Shibpur is a great option.
