What am I missing out on joining IIM Kozhikode over IIM A B C ? How is it gonna affect me in the long run?

The average package you'll accept is determined by your own efforts. When compared to ABC, the level of competition will be slightly lower throughout.

More importantly, IIM-K is known for its greenery rather than its competitive academics, which is unfortunate but does not imply that people are not intelligent. When compared to IIM- ABC, the level of library facilities is lower.

It's good that you have AMBA accreditation and some other important accreditation for a B-school.

When compared to the top three IIMs, the level of teaching and research would be comparable or slightly lower. Although admission to IIM-K is not easy, your talent is appreciated. There will be numerous opportunities for you to reinvent yourself.

One of my cousins is a part of IIM Kozhikode, and as she mentions, there can be more than one potential downfall in choosing the institute.

The average salary package matters a lot more than other aspects, as per what my cousin states. However, it crucially depends upon the endeavors you put forth.
The level of competition remains almost identical to what you can already witness in IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, or IIM Calcutta.
But, when especially compared between the institutes, IIM Kozhikode can comparatively remain a little backward in terms of competition.
IIM Kozhikode is mostly famous for the surroundings it has but not for the academic credentials it follows.
The major downside is the library facilities, which is tremendously less as opposed to the ones in IIM A, B, or C.
The level of pedagogy or curriculum will not be as enhanced as what IIM A, B, or C would offer.

However, it is still best that you have an AMBA accreditation for a B-school, in contrast to other newer IIMs. It is yet very difficult to get shortlisted at IIM Kozhikode, despite it not being the best amongst the other three. You should still not feel disappointed because there are a lot of opportunities to explore at the institute.
