Is Assam University a Central University?

Assam University is a Central University and is a teaching cum affiliating university located in Silchar, Assam. It was established under the enactment of Assam (Central) University act. 

The main campus is situated at Dargakona which is about 20 km away from Silchar city and is spread over 600 acres of land. The campus is set amid the beautiful landscape of Assam and provides a very good environment for the students to study and for the researchers to carry on their work. There is also another campus of the university which is located at Diphu in the district of Karbi Anglong, Assam. 

Under this university, there are sixteen schools that offer various courses like Environmental Sciences, Information Sciences, Life Sciences, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, Management Studies, Technology, Law, Humanities and Languages. 

Assam University is a central university and it is one of the most reputed institutes of Assam and North-east which offer various kinds of courses and programs to the students.
