NIET Greater Noida offers a well-designed 3 year BTech degree program in Biotechnology which is affiliated to AKTU- Dr. Abdul Kalam Technical University (UPTU). The undergraduate course has a total student intake of 60 annually and observes a high amount of competition every year for admissions.

Course Fees and Structure:

  • The total fees for the full-time four-year program are 4.65 lakh and students are also offered multiple scholarships in order to help with funding.
  • The course is spread across 6 semesters with the first three semesters focusing on core foundation subjects like Fluid Mechanics and Bioprocess Engineering. The last two semesters offer industrial training through internships, an open elective specialization, and a compulsory live project based on which students are scored in their final results.
  • The University also organizes multiple seminars, conferences, and workshops in order to help enhance student’s soft skills by conducting personality development and interview technique related informative sessions with leading personalities from the industry. It also offers multiple opportunities to attend workshops related to clinical research, SAS, Bioinformatics, and Virtual labs.

Admissions:

  • Students can apply for admissions based on their ranked obtained in UPSEE entrance exams conducted in January every year.
  • Students are also required to have a minimum 60% aggregate score and at least a 45% score in mathematics.

Faculty:The faculty employed for the biotechnology program is all academic experts in the field and have years of experience within the field of research and biotechnology. They are mostly IIT or NIT graduates.

Placements:

  • It observes a placement rate of 75% while offering an average salary package of 5 to 6 LPA.
  • Some of the top recruiting companies are Capgemini, HCL, Cognizant, IBM, Nestle, and TCS.
  • Since biotechnology has been newly introduced as a specialization, NIET sees only a handful of core companies as part of their placement drive. Therefore, it is highly unlikely to receive a job offer through placement within a core biotech company.
  • The Biotechnology department organizes multiple industrial visits throughout the year to companies like Mother Dairy, Yakult, and IIRT Ghaziabad in order to help students understand core concepts and make them industry-ready.

The points given above will help students to make a well-informed decision in terms of their choice of college.
