AKTU follows an absolute grading system in which each semester result is converted into Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA). The Yearly Grade Point Average (YGPA) is calculated each year. The Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is calculated after the end semester of the program.
SGPA -
SGPA (Si) = (Ci * Gi)/Ci
It is the ratio of the product of the number of credits with the grade points scored by the students in all the courses taken by them and the sum of the courses undergone by them.
Ci is the number of credits of the ith course and Gi is the grade points scored by the student.
YGPA -
Yearly grade point average is calculated at the end of each year.
YGPA =SGPA(odd)*Ci(odd)+SGPA(even)*Ci(even)/(Ci(odd)+Ci(even))
CGPA -
CGPA is calculated in the same way by taking into account all the courses taken by a student throughout the semesters of a particular program.
CGPA =(Ci*Si)/Ci
Here, Ci is the total number of credits in the ith semester and Si is the SGPA of the ith semester.
The AKTU grading system is further explained through the video below
The institute has further announced to follow the aforementioned system, the salient characteristics of which are as followed below,
Here is how you can convert your grades from percentage,
CGPA Earned x 10 = Percentage of marks scored. For instance, if the CGPA you are received is 7.1, then multiply it by 10, such as 7.1 x 10 = 71.0%
