How good is IIM Jammu when compared to other non IIM B-schools?

There are plenty of non-IIM business schools. The new IIMs are a better choice than most of them, simply because of the ‘IIM’ tag. ISB, JBIMS, XLRI, FMS, S.P.Jain and MDI are some of the handful of top business schools that are non IIMs. They stand above new IIMs. 

As for the baby IIMs like IIM Jammu, consider them only if you can't get into a more renowned business school. These are very newly built IIMs. But by joining them, you can become a part of their progress journey. This is a great learning experience in itself. Plus, the baby IIMs are also mentored by the old and highly reputed IIMs.

If you feel that you have a very rich profile or your CAT scores can improve, sit for CAT again the following year.

IIM Jammu is a decent B-School. Although it is among the new IIMs, it has improved a lot over the last few years. IIM J offers a hands-on learning experience with a case-study-based pedagogy. You will get exposure to real-world corporate problems. Students get the opportunity to take part in various clubs and committee activities. 

IIM Jammu placements have witnessed an upward surge, over the last few years. According to 2022 placement highlights, students received an average CTC of INR 13.53 LPA. While the highest CTC offered was INR 32 LPA. 

According to one of my friends studying in IIM Jammu, the major difference lies in the pedagogy of teaching. 

Here students at the very beginning of their career are exposed to the functioning of a professional workplace. This is practiced through case studies and activities. The case studies and industry visits present a real-life scenario. This quality of education makes an IIM stand apart from the Non-IIM B-schools. 

The academic rigor and continuous focus in various clubs and committees will give them a sense of responsibility and engagement. 

Though IIM Jammu is at its very early stage, it is growing at a fast pace in terms of academics, placement, and infrastructure. Reputed Companies like Deloitte, Maruti Suzuki, Myntra, ICICI, Siemens, etc. have taken part in their placement program, recruiting many students. 

When compared to non-IIM B-schools, IIM Jammu students will receive the brand tag and the perks that will come with it in the future.
