Below are a few tips that will help you in preparing for GD:
Prepare yourself: Unless prohibited, always carry a notepad and a pen. It indicates that you are prepared for the discussion.
Make notes: Use a notepad to jot down the points. Always start with the topic, roughly so that at least you can read it for the next 10 mins of GD. Take notes in the time allotted for preparation. Also, take notes on important points that come up during the discussion. This will assist you in completing the GD.
Allow others to speak: If you have already spoken, do not interrupt others excessively. Allowing others to speak demonstrates that you are interested in a healthy debate and are a good listener.
Don't use derogatory expressions: In GD, never raise your voice to express your rage. Always treat GD as if it were a discussion. If necessary, disagree politely. These are the qualities of an effective leader and team player.
Stay on topic: Try to stay on topic and add new points to the discussion. Deviating from the topic may result in a failing grade.
For Extempore preparation at FMS Delhi, you need to follow the below tips:
Take any subject and begin speaking without any preparation. If possible, request a topic and practice from friends or family members. Try to say something, no matter how insignificant or hazy the subject is. It will assist you in improving your thinking process and broadening your perspective on any topic you are given.
When you're alone, practice in front of the mirror. Tell your friends to make some chits for you, then pick one up and begin speaking with a timer on. Test yourself to see if you can speak for at least one minute on that subject.
Develop your general knowledge. If a topic is current affairs or based on facts, you should at least have some knowledge of it before speaking on it.
