NIT Hamirpur gained NIT status in 2002. It's an autonomous engineering college offering quality education in various fields. It has a vibrant campus life thanks to its excellent infrastructure and crowd.

Campus

• The campus is surrounded by breathtaking snow-clad Dhauladhar mountain ranges with lush green pine trees surrounding it.
• There are enough facilities for indoor and outdoor games.

Annual Fests

• The annual cultural festival Hillffair Annual Cultural Fest is held at a large scale and is a platform for showcasing talents from all over the nation
• NIMBUS is the Annual Technical Fest wherein students from different branches come together, form groups and make technical projects that are displayed in workshops and exhibitions. 

Hostel and Mess Facilities

• The college has sewerage accommodation facilities for both boys and girls. 
• Currently, there are 8 hostels for boys and 4 hostels for girls.
• Other hostel facilities include a well-furnished Dining Hall, Reading Room, Gymnasium, Sick Room, and Guest Room facility. 
• Every hostel has a mess that serves good food and other eatables.

Sports

• The Institute provides sports facilities for both outdoor and indoor activity. 
• Some sports facilities include a standard-size stadium and a pavilion where games like Cricket, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Lawn Tennis etc. are played.

Annual Athletic Meet (Lalkaar)

During even semesters, various track and field events like 100 m, 200 m, 400 m,800 m, 1500 m, 5000 m, 4x100 m, 4x400 m, long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, javelin throw & discus throw are organized.
