Should I go for BCA from IGNOU?

IGNOU is The Indira Gandhi National Open University is a central university located in Delhi. With an enrollment of more than 4 million students, it is considered to be the world's largest university. IGNOU was started with the dream of providing open and distance education to the masses to eradicate illiteracy from India. It is among the very few institutes which offer almost all the courses. One such course is BCA i.e. Bachelor of Computer Applications.

Admission:

• For BCA, the required eligibility is 10+2, or its equivalent from any recognized board.

• The institute accepts students on a first come first serve basis. The normal duration, of course, is 3 years.

• There is no minimum number of seats in IGNOU as it is an open university all you have to do is register before the last date. The total course fee is Rs. 40200/- which is to be paid semester wise.

Curriculum:

• This course in IGNOU provides the knowledge of current and upcoming features of computers and its application.

• This course is designed for the overseas student as well, so it keeps in mind the requirement of the international market and thus accordingly plans the syllabus.

Students can alternatively work anywhere they want and attend the lectures on a weekend or as per the convenience. Students also need to have their interest to pursue this course from IGNOU as there won't be any strict vigilance on you to study or to do your regular course work.

Faculty:

The teaching faculty for BCA in IGNOU is quite helpful and knowledgeable. They are well qualified and have years of experience in teaching.

Placements:

As IGNOU is not a regular lecture conducting institute, it depends on the student's caliber on how he or she performs during their interviews.

• Around the academic year, the CPC organizes various job fairs and campus placements, and pre-placement training in its headquarters, study centers, regional centers.

Pursue the course only if you are genuinely interested in the field or willing to study on your own as the lectures will be held on the weekends, and most of the time the whole syllabus is not covered in a given period, so it's up to you.
