Yes, a BCom (A&F)degree from IGNOU is eligible for pursuing CFA. A bachelor's degree with UGC accreditation is considered eligible for level 1 examination. CFA University doesn’t have a list of approved universities.
You can go for CFA course if you are in your final year. There’s a provision that your graduation years and experience in Finance combined should be at least equal to four years. If you are not a graduate but you have four years of work experience in Core Finance, you can go for CFA course as well.
CFA is a globally recognized program that embarks on the strong base of investment analysis in a real market. If a student has done their graduation (B.Com) from IGNOU, it is possible to continue the CFA program but there are some eligibility criteria that should be matched by the candidates.
Eligibility:
The candidates must meet all the following eligibility criteria who are applying for the CFA program.
Students with a bachelor’s degree in related areas can apply for CFA programs.
A student with the final year/semester of their graduation can also register for the CFA program but in the meantime, the candidates must have to complete graduation before registering for the level 2 exam.
Minimum 4 years of work experience as well as graduate degree required for this global program.
A valid passport required to have a student while registering.
Levels of CFA exam:
There are three levels to get CFA certification, it will take a duration of 1.5 -4 years to complete. All the levels are described below.
Level 1:
The level 1 examination is conducted 2 times in one year, i.e. 1st week of June and December.
The exam pattern of the CFA level 1 exam consists of 240 multiple choice questions with a duration of 3 hours and the average passing mark is 43%.
The early registration fee is around 700 USD and additional 450 USD have to be paid for those who are registering for the first time.
Level 2:
The registration process is similar to level 1 but only in the month of June, the level 2 exam is conducted.
There are a total of 120 multiple choice questions included with a duration of 3 hours.
The passing percentile of the level 2 exam is 45%.
Level 3:
The question pattern for level 3 is different from level 1 and level 2. The exam is divided into morning sessions and afternoon sessions.
The morning session is consisting of essay type questions whereas the afternoon session is about MCQs.
56% of marks are required to secure the level 3 exam.
It is very difficult to qualify all the CFA levels exam, in case the candidates do not qualify level 1, he/she has to wait 6 months for the next level1 exam.
