Should I go to IIFT or IIM?
If you aren’t getting IIM A, B, C, L, or I then you should choose IIFT. Your preference order should be IIM BLACKI > IIFT D > New IIMs + Shillong > IIFT Kolkata > Newest IIMs > IIFT Kakinada.
Note that IIM I has a huge batch size and the competition will be higher for an average profile. In IIM L, you can get placement into top consulting companies and investment banks only if your past academic record is stellar.
IIFT Delhi placements are pretty good. For 2022, the average CTC offered to the students was INR 21.08 LPA.

Your preferences should be made in order of opportunities and infrastructure provided by the institute. If you are not getting IIM ABC or even IIM L then IIFT can be considered as the best option.

- In IIM ABC, the batch sizes are huge, which creates a major competition for average profile candidates to grab an excellent salary package in placements.
- For getting placed in the top consulting firms and investment banks at IIM Lucknow, an excellent past academic record is necessary, which stands a condition to be fulfilled.
- For candidates with multiple CAT attempts, the score might not improve to a large extent in the succeeding years. Even after having an excellent score, general engineering males need an extraordinary profile for getting old IIMs.
Considering the above facts, it can be concluded that the first preference should be IIM ABC & L, following which IIFT should be preferred. All other IIMs come at a grade below IIFT.
