Instead of institutes, you should compare programs. Assuming that you are comparing the ISB full-time program (PGP) with the IIM one-year full-time program, IIMA PGPX, here are some of the things that you should consider.

  • PGP is the flagship program for ISB. While PGPX isn’t the flagship program of IIMA.
  • Scope of peer learning at IIMs is limited. Since the average work experience for students are around 8-9 years and there are few students from new-age start-ups. ISB student crowd have participants with 2-years to 20-years of work experience. So, you will have better exposure and industry contacts.
  • The learn batch size of ISB (800+) helps get more recruiters for placements. ISB Hyderabad placement drive has more recruiting companies (200+).
  • The kind of international tie-ups IBS has and therefore the quality of international faculty ISB gets is unparalleled in the country.
  • As ISB PGP is older it has a better alumni base.

IIMA PGPX has its own advantages, but ISB PGP stands out due to the above reasons.

This question definitely does not have a straightforward answer. You will have to look at a number of parameters in order to reach a conclusion. In my opinion, you should not compare the placements between either institute as those are quite subjective. It is suggested to check the website of each institute.

Admission:

  • You will have to prepare for GMAT in order to gain admission to both colleges. Additionally, you may even have to give essays and interviews.
  • You will be judged on the basis of your performance in all 3 rounds and ensure that you are strong in all of them.
  • If you are weak in academics, you should have good work experience.

Aim of the program:

  • The 1-year program would be better suited for you if you have a few years of experience. It is good if you have 2-3 years of experience and you can think of going to IIM if you have 5 to 7 years of experience.
  • The 1-year program can be equivalent to an MBA internationally. Both colleges are at par with each other and are among the top 50 B-schools in the world.

Batch size: IIM admits about 80 students per batch and ISB admits about 800. Depending on your requirement, this could be a pro or con.

Other plus points at both colleges include the fact that they both have a good brand name. Plus, you might not need an industry internship if you are an experienced professional. Although there are few companies that visit the colleges, they hire a larger number of people. There are a number of other pros that you will experience once you decide to go to either of these places.

You will definitely have a good future at either of these places.
