What would be the right choice between an ICE at NIT Jalandhar and a CSE at IIIT Guwahati?

According to my friends studying at IIIT Guwahati, CSE is a better choice than pursuing ICE at NIT Jalandhar. Though there are various reasons why ICE at NIT Jalandhar is also a very good program. As NIT is an older institute, they have more alumni and industry connections and a decent placement record compared to that of IIIT Guwahati.

Below is some information for the academic year 2019-20.

However compelling all these might me, there are many reasons for choosing CSE at IIIT Guwahati over the other which are listed below –

• CSE is one of the most demanding branches currently and will continue to be.
• All IIITs in India including IIIT Guwahati have a robust mechanism in place for prepping up their students for Google Summer of Coding (GSoC). This instills a coding culture among the students.
• The proximity of IIT Guwahati makes it favorable for IIIT Guwahati in terms of placements. This also gives it an edge over NIT Jalandhar.
• Guwahati has its own commercial airport which makes it easier for the placement committee to bring top officials of big companies to the campus.

Even though its placements are very much close to that of NIT Jalandhar, in some cases it exceeds it as well. The growth potential of the institute is higher in comparison to NIT Jalandhar. Hence, it is advisable to go for CSE at IIIT Guwahati rather than ICE at NIT Jalandhar. However, if you prefer ICE, then go for it.
