Remarks :
This college lasts 3 years, fully online mode of admission process. Admission form and fees structure was available in the college website. Ayya Nadar janaki Amma college was one of the prestigious institution in india. In this college under graduation selection process was fully cutoff based. No entrance exam for under graduation(UG).
Course Curriculum Overview :
In my school times, I was interested in small objects(micro and nano size), so I selected microbiology as a major subject in college studies. Faculty in this department are fully experienced and specialists in various sub-branches of microbiology and life sciences. All the staff in the microbiology department are minimum qualified with a Doctor of Philosophy ( PhD) and some faculty are senior scientists. Teaching method: Staff are very enthusiastic in teaching, especially since they are high skilled in practical. Exam in this college are 2 internal exams, 1 model exam and 1 semester exam in one semester. The ratio of marks taken in the final mark sheet is 40: 60 (40 internal and model exams, 60 external or semester exams).
Internships Opportunities :
Internship availability was only in nearby areas. But institutions like DRDO, DLRI, and AIIMA Madras Medical College, are giving internships to these college students. Pulmonary cancer treatment, clinical waste management, Multidrug resistance bacteria control and prevention, and Spirulina advance production methods projects are ongoing project work of the department.
Placement Experience :
Final semester students are only eligible for campus interviews. So many companies came for all departments. In the microbiology and biotechnology department, only a few companies came. Ithayam Frozen Foods, Mathi Hospital, Meenakshi Labs, and Bioplus are came for campus interviews. The average salary per head is 2.15 laks to 3 laks per year.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
B.Sc Microbiology is a self-finance department. Fees structure of the department is very year on year, the average fee per year was around 50000 rupees, Including tuition fees and exam fees. SC/ ST scheme scholarship was applicable. Compared to other colleges fee structure was very effective in this college. Campus interview was rare in this department, but we got a lot of references from this department.
Campus Life :
Yearly at least 1 international seminar is conducted in this department. Many national and state-level seminars are also conducted regularly. Yearly once intercollegiate meet competition was conducted by students of the department. So many hands-on workshops were conducted by the department. In this college library was one of the amazing things. More than 1 Lacs book is available in this library. Classrooms are fully equipped, and smart classrooms are also available. In particular, I mentioned laboratory has enormous lab equipment all are functional. All sports and athlete was available with proper trainer and coach. Here NCC, NSS, yellow ribbon club, red ribbon club, Consumer club, Tamil traditional club, and social awareness club were available.
