Remarks :
Eligibility of the Course is from JEE Mains. The application process is through JOSSA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) and through CSAB ( Central Seat Allocation Authority ). The admission process timeline for fee payment is as per JOSSA and CSAB. The admission process is easy and approachable. The dates for the application form and fees will be on the JOSSA page, which changes in consecutive years.
Course Curriculum Overview :
NIFFT is one of the oldest institutes providing manufacturing courses and has the best and finest Laboratory facilities in Metallurgy and materials like Sand Lab, Metallographic Lab, FMS Lab, Non-Destructive and Mechanical Testing Lab, Spectroscopy, etc. The faculty of the Institute are recruited with high eligibility standards, at par with INIs, and are exceptional in their area of expertise. The consistent passion and effort of faculty members in education, research, and industry-specific training and skill development. The faculties are well qualified. The teachers stick to the key and major parts of the syllabus and industrial exposure. The exams get a bit delayed from the given stipulated time. The question papers are of a good standard and students sticking to the concept will help them score well. Almost all students pass.
Internships Opportunities :
Tata Metaliks, Ayena, and many more companies provide paid internships. The students do internships in DRDO, DMRL, Midhani, CSR-NML, SAIL, RINL, Rail wheel plant, Vedanta, and many more core companies. The projects are taken under ferrous and nonferrous metals properties, mechanical testing, steel making, alloys, annealing, heat treatment of metals, Li-ion batteries reusability, Forging, Casting, Rolling, and many more.
Placement Experience :
The students are eligible for placements from the 7th-semester beginning. The campus offers pre-placements from the 5th semester. The major recruiters are Vedanta around 12-15 members, JSW around 15-18 members, Maruthi Suzuki around 10-11 members, TAFE 5-6 members, Linamar 9-10 members, Sona Comster 5-6 members, Barath Forge 5-6 members, Sriram Piston and Rings 1-5 members etc. Metallurgy has a placement record of 100%. The highest in metallurgy is 14LPA The average Package is around 9.5 LPA. I am personally planning to take placement.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
As per the new fee structure for every semester is 51700 currently from the 2023 batch. Prior it was 30100. The cost of studying engineering is less than compared to many private and government institutions. The fee is really affordable for a reputed institution like NIFFT. The mess and hostel fees cost around 32750 per semester. Scholarships Merit cum Means scholarships for 2nd,3rd, and final-year students. Ministry of Steel scholarships for top five students in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering. National Scholarship for Higher Education for ST top five students. Campus Life :
The Annual Cultural cum technical fest is JINKS Pranav which will be held during February or March as per Gymkhana Calendar. It is a three-day fest with technical events conducted from 9 am-5 pm and then followed by enthusiastic cultural events from the evening 6 pm to 12 am. The college has a world-class library in the technical field. The four-storeyed library's rich collection includes over 31000 books, 3560 bound volumes, and 215 current periodicals in Manufacturing, Metallurgy, Material Science, and allied areas. The classrooms have 180+ student occupancy classrooms as well as 120+ occupancy rooms with projectors, boards, and speakers. The campus has a football ground, cricket ground, volleyball court, and two open badminton courts. The institute has a well-established music club with musical instruments and a dance club. There is a Gym opening in the evening. All the extra activities come under the Gymkhana club. We have the technical club SAE to develop cars for completion.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel room is provided with one cot, one study table, and one cupboard. There is a tub light, night lamp, fan, and two sockets. The menu is quite decent and charges 125 rupees per day. Food quality needs to be improved. The food served is not very tasty, but bearable to fill the stomach. The registration process is simple and comes with fees for the hostel of 5 months advanced prior. The mess fee is 3750 per month and the hostel establishment charges 9000 and seat rent, electricity and water rent is 5000 per semester.
