NIT SILCHAR REVIEW

KR
6.5 /5

Remarks :

It is based on merit in the JEE MAINS examination. It will be released by JOSAA on their official website. There is 10% for sc/st, 27% for obc, and 10% for ews. The admission process is good the way it currently is other than the delayed results.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I was interested in the ECE course and from the stats of NIT SILCHAR I couldn't say no to it. The student-faculty ratio would be 80:1. Most of the faculty are Ph.D. holders and well-qualified for what they do. The term exams are done every 5 months in the form of 30 for mid-exams, 50 for endsems, and 20 for internals

Internships Opportunities :

I am not aware of internships but there are internship opportunities based on the CGPA and other skills. If we can have a CGPS of 8.5 or above then we can get internships based on other performances.

Placement Experience :

The placements are really great in terms of average package and median also. also, the overall placement rate is around 85%. most of the students get placed in IT and very few opt for core companies. the average overall is around 12LPA and for ECE it is 16LPA.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I am from the general category, so I did not get any such benefits. but there is fee flexibility for below 5 lakhs and below 1 lakhs. students can even claim NSP and other scholarships from many organizations.

Campus Life :

There is an annual fest called INCADENSENCE which is a cultural fest conducted over a stretch of 7 days and there is TECHNOEISIS the technical fest conducted over 5 days. other than those there will be many events conducted on a regular basis. the library is one of the largest in Asia and it will be good enough for all our needs. The classrooms are non-AC and are good. sports and curricula are also good and well-equipped for some sports. there is E cell, ILLUMNITS, drama club, dance club, etc.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel facility is not that great, there is a food problem in terms of taste and water problem in terms of hygiene, there are some issues with the internet also. the hostel accommodation is not the best for the 20k per semester that we pay.

Placement Experience:

The placement of the college is quite good. we cannot disclose the name of the company visiting the campus because the training and placement cell of NIT SILCHAR did not allow us to disclose the names of the companies. My plan after getting my degree is to go through the UPSC exam.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Because I was interested in this course. Here the faculty-to-student ratio would be around 1:25 which is very good we can clarify our doubts by asking the faculty, the Qualification of the teaching method will mostly be the same, they are PhD, but their teaching experience plays a major role and their teaching method varies from faculty to faculty but it would be nice. Term exams would be around 5 months Difficulty in passing the exams depends on the faculty.

From the 6th sem onwards students are eligible for campus. As per the guidelines of the training and placement cell, the name of the company visited can't be disclosed. There are too many companies visiting the campus for recruitment. Almost all the students who are eligible for placements get placed with a good package.

Till now placement percentage is at a good level. From 6th semester students became eligible for placements. Most of the students get placed. From what I have heard short listing of candidates is based on cgpa basis. Skills are most important to go to software companies.

Placement Experience:

The placement season in the college is a very important one. Even before that, students get to do internships from 2nd year of BTech, providing them exposure to all kinds of companies and job sectors. All kinds of companies like Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Amazon, Uber make their way out here in search of bright minds capable of developing the companies further. They even provide the students with Pre Placement Offers, if their internship performance is commendable. The highest package goes upto above 2 crore INR per year, with average packages of above 25 lakhs INR per year. Above 85% of the students get placed in the end, with the others interested in higher studies. Nobody is left idle. My plans after BTech are to pursue a well paying job with a good working atmosphere.
