Remarks
Apart from this college, I had applied to JBIMS, PUMBA, Wellingkar Institute, COEP. Out of these colleges, I got a comfirmed admission in COEP, but in the later CAP rounds, I got admitted to SIMSREE. I chose this college over others as it is 2nd highest rated college through MBA CET, JBIMS being the number 1. I couldn't get into JBIMS as my percentile wasn't that high. The admission process is guided by the CETCELL of Maharashtra Government and the admission process is fully online, except the document verification. Eligibility criteria is a degree in any field, and the exams accepted are MBA CET and CMAT, while MBA CET is most preferred by students. The cutoff of my batch was MBA CET - 99.50 and CMAT - 99.90(around this number). Overall admission experience was very good and comfortable as the process was online.
Course Curriculum Overview
We have a batch size of 199 students, total strength being 200-205. The gender ratio of our batch is around 80:20 in favour of boys. The class is culturally diverse, having students from all over India Including Karnataka, Delhi, Goa, Maharashtra etc. Majorly the students are from Maharashtra, since there are majority state level seats. The peer group is also very motivated, always pushing each other to limits, competition is there, but i feel that the competition is a healthy one. We do have marks for participation in the classroom as our internals are depended on it. We have on average an attendence of 75% during any lecture i.e. around 150 students
Internships Opportunities
Due to college policies, I cannot discuss everything about the placements, though, around 80-90% of batch secured summer placements, most of which were a paid internship. The highest stipend offered was 2.7 Lakh Rs. with a total of 60+ recruiters at our batch, Regular recruiters like Barclays, CRISIL, GEP, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Morgan Stanley continued their participation. Around 16% of students receive the PPO. For more details, please visit our college website
Placement Experience
Placements start as soon as the acedemic start and they continue throughout the year. The placements are 100% for the final placements. The highest CTC is 26.3 LPA, average is 15.24 LPA, while the lowest is around 9 LPA. Most preferred companies are the MNCs and the asset management companies and banks, which offer CTC around the mean. The placement process is completely driven by the placement committee and the process is very transperent. there were more than 76 recruiters that hired from SIMSREE last year
Fees and Financial Aid
For Open category, the fees are 67000 per year and 2000 library fees. If you get admission in hostel, the hostel fees are 6000 a year, and hostel building is very next to the college so there are no transport costs if you live at hostel. For the entire course, I paid 1.36 lakh fees for 2 years. This fees is lowest through MBA CET exams, and overall, it is one of the lowest fees one could pay for MBA degree. Other monthly expense include the food expenses, which would cost around 5000 at max. I don't exactly know the other category fees, although the fees for category are lesser than OPEN category, OBC having 40k fees per year and so on.
Campus Life
There are no sports facilities on campus, although we do have a badminton court which we use during our annual fest, for indoor games, we have a pool table, table tennis table, carrom and chess with all the pieces and equipments for the same. The auditorium and library are well maintained and AC Conditioned with a huge amount of books to choose from. We also have an E-library where the books are accessible in digital format. Campus is not big, being at church gate, so personal bikes are not allowed inside of campus and also relatives cannot visit the campus. there are a few food joints nearby campus and railway station is very very close to the college. As said, the campus is not a very big place, its is just the building with walls on 4 sides. After college, students generally go into the library or in the cafeteria or the games area. Major spots are, Marine Lines, Bk cafe, Gateway of India, Kala Ghoda, etc and it is very safe to roam outside during night time. There are numerous events conducted by the events committee, including the annual fest, house cup, simerations, etc and the vibe is very energetic during these events, after all this is the time off we get from our hectic schedule. As the college is student driven, we have all sorts of committees from alum committee to placement committee. There are a total of 12 committees. For CV Pointers, i believe the most important committees are the placement committee, finance forum, Alum committee
Hostel Facilities
Girls and boys hostels are seperate and there is good security so tresspassing of any sorts is not allowed. The hostel is the government hostel for girls and boys, where students from different colleges are there, so in boys hostel, I guess the total intake is around 30 students. There are 2 hostels, one at churchgate, which is next to college, and other at jogeshwari which takes around 1 hr of travel by a local train. The hostel allocations are done on a basis of students with less income. All the income related documents are rigorously verified and then the allocations take place based on the income level. The entry at hostel is closed at 10 pm on weekdays and saturday, and 12 am on sunday. The fees are 6000 flat for 1 year. Fooding is not included in hostel, although they have a mess, which providesa full meal at 50 rs(guess), and all the hostels have canteen services, which is very clean.I dont't stay at a hostel, so i think i may not be a right person to answer this question, although, I know that the rooms are not AC, but all the other aminities are provided including a study table, bed, mattress, etc and the washrooms are common. Students live at pgs in nearby areas who do not opt for hostel
Exam Structure
The admission process takes around a month and a half, starting with the registeration for the CAP Rounds, which window is open for a week or two, then another week is given for students to verify their documents with the centre of their choice. AFter this, a provisional merit list, followed by final merit list is shared by CETCELL after a week. Post that, the actual Cap rounds start. There are a total of 3 rounds where candidates apply, results arrive and then take the admission by paying the fees. Each CAP Round lasts a week. The most preferred exam is the MBA CET as it gives the students the STATE Seats status, although, students may apply through giving CMAT too. I would say a safe percentile to secure admission at SIMSREE is 99.6+ as this year's cut off is 99.5 for MBA CET. For CMAT a safe score would be 99.95+. The college don't have any management quota as the admission is given to students purely based on merit.
Faculty
Yes students do fail in final exams and for that they have to pay 6k rs and take that subject again because vit does not give an option of re attempt. A typical academic semester for a single subject is as following - 2 CAT exams ( continuous assessment test) one of them is open book and is out of 30 marks with a weightage of 15 each Quizzes and digital assignments- one should try getting most in these as they have a weightage of total 30 marks and are comparatively very easy to score. FAT (Final assessment test) - This is the final exam which has a weightage of 40 marks and consists of 7 modules in every subject. If a student fails to get 40 marks in fat they will be given a backlog in that particular subject. Teaching methodology there is very simple. We have got 7 modules for every subject in PDF format and are taught by the faculties in depth, given practice questions in class and can mug up everything from those 7 modules. Faculty I admired the most was Dr. Vidhyapathi. He was my Microcontrollers professor and had immense practical and theoretical knowledge about the subject. He used to explain everything with examples and used to make sure each and every student in his class understood the concept thoroughly. Faculty I didn't admire- Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh for robotics. He didn't attend classes and used to cancel class at the end moment which was a very rare thing to happen in vit. There is a75% attendance criteria for students with less than 9cgpa . For students with 9 cgpa and above it was not compulsory to attend classes and there was no attendance criteria for them.
