Remarks

I applied to ISB, XIMB, SPIMR, and IMT, but I got an admission call only from IMT. I chose to apply to IMT because of its strong alumni network. I believe I got rejected from the other colleges because of my academic performance during undergrad. So, one can either write CAT, GMAT, or XAT to be able to apply to IMT. Most of the students take the CAT or XAT. The cutoff percentile For CAT and XAT floats around 90-95%. I got into IMT through GMAT. After I applied, I got a call from the college for a personal interview which was held in Bangalore. There were other locations as well for the interview but I chose Bangalore since it was the most convenient. The interview went really well and I heard back from the college after a month about my admission.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

There are roughly 180 students in Marketing and each class can accommodate around 60 students. The batch has people from different parts of the country and the overall percentage of females stands at 36%. Peer learning is a big thing at IMT. Most of the students come to actually learn in class but in some cases, they come just for attendance. Each class has participation points which are added to the overall score.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

Currently summer internship process is going on and about 30% of the batch is placed. Majority of the companies offer sales roles and all internships are paid. FMCG giants such as Marico, Brittania, Nivea, etc. are sought after. Deloitte hires students in bulk and pays around 50K per month. A lot of people convert PPOs from internships.

Placement Experience

2

Final placements start by November-December every year and almost all students get placed. The highest CTC last year was around 60L and the average was 17.35L. Preferred companies for the marketing course are FMCG giants. The placement committee conducts the placement processes. I feel that the process is not 100% transparent and there are alleged instances that indicate the same

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

Admission Fee is 50K that is paid in year one. Academic Fee for year one is 11.5L and for year two is 9.3L. There's an alumni fee of 8K and a caution deposit of 15K, both of which have to paid in the 1st year. The total fees for the course is 21.53L for two years. The fees is lower than the other colleges that I was applying to. The college also provides scholarships to all female students and to students who performed exceptionally well during their entrance tests.

Campus Life

2

There's a common ground which is used for playing cricket and football. There's an outdoor badminton court and a volleyball court and an indoor table tennis room. The campus also has a gym which is used by both boys and girls. People usually use the library for any type of coursework. There's an auditorium that is used for conducting leadership talks. The classes are a 5 minute walk from the hostel blocks and are well equipped with the necessary equipment. There's also an on-campus doctor. Students are not allowed to park their personal vehicles inside the campus. The overall campus life is good. People usually hang out in and around the campus. The college hosts two major events every year- Chakravyuh (sports event) and Passion (flagship management & cultural fest). There are various clubs and committees and the major ones are the Student Affairs and Welfare Council, Placement Committee, Sports Committee, Cultural Committee, etc. The above mentioned committees get the highest number of applicants each year during their recruitments.

Hostel Facilities

2

There are separate hostels for boys and girls. Girls can enter boys' hostels, but boys can't enter the girl's hostels. Almost all rooms are double occupancy and all hostel blocks have shared washrooms. Students are allowed to leave the hostels at any time they want but can't leave the campus after 11 pm. There are two cafeterias and one mess on the campus. Mess food is included in the fee but students can buy food from the cafeterias as well. All the hostel blocks have guards and are really safe. All hostels have double sharing rooms with common washrooms. There are ACs, study tables, chairs, beds and cupboards in each room and the campus is fully connected with Wi-Fi. There's a indoor games room and a gym on campus. It is mandatory for all students to stay on campus.

Exam Structure

An online counseling session was held for aspirants on 22nd January, and after that, students received interview calls by 8th February. There was only one interview round for admissions, and mine was held on 12th February. After a month or so, students received provisional admission letters. Most of the students wrote CAT and XAT and only a few wrote GMAT to apply for the college. A percentile of 90-95 in CAT and XAT, and a score of 650-680 in GMAT can be considered safe for applying to the college.

Faculty

2

The course curriculum is one of the most difficult among various different courses. People are failing in exams. A score of 60 per cent is considered really good and scored only by the top cader. The course demands a lot from the student. There are multiple internal assessments and exams, with a final end-term exam usually at the end of the year. Students typically attend theory and practicals daily; the day usually starts at 8 am and ends at 6 pm. And there is a minimum attendance requirement of 75 per cent, below which students won't be allowed to attend their end-term exams. The faculty members are knowledgeable with in-depth knowledge in their own specialisations.

Placement Experience:

Final placements start in November adn about 80-85% of the people in campus get placed via it. I am not aware of any of the details surrounding average, lowest and highest as of now. The Placement Committee plays a vital role in getting these companies on board to recruit however they are not at all transparent and show a high degree of preference towards their own members and push for them to be included in GDPIs of companies at the expense of others.

Placement Experience:

While the college has a very good placement record, it still does not place nearly 5-10% of its students, and those students go through all sorts of workshops, mock interviews, and one-on-one mentoring by the instituition to ensure they get placed. Average CTC is around INR 19 LPA. The placement committee plays a crucial role in coordinating the process and, while many see it as transparent, some students feel that improvements can be made in terms of communication concerning criteria placed on placements.

Placement Experience:

Final placements usually start around January. It takes about 2 weeks for the process to finish. Placements are 100% every year. CTC can range from 17LPA, with an average of 30LPA to 65L domestic and 1.3Cr in international offers. Placement process is transparent as most of it is conducted by students themselves and the placement committee works hard to ensure every student is placed.
