Remarks
I had applied through the All India Counselling and the Tamil Nadu Medical Counselling. The top 5 Government colleges in my state required me to get even better marks in my NEET - UG examination. This college was one of the best in the state and was on par with various other national-level medical colleges. This college provides one of the best hands-on experiences as well. 2017 was the first time NEET-UG was introduced. Hence, the category cutoffs were comparatively low around 350 on 720. The admission experience was smooth with an easy onboarding.
Course Curriculum Overview
There are a total of 150 students per batch in MBBS during my admission. This later got increased to 250 in the subsequent years. Girls to Boys ratio is usually 65 to 35. Our college saw students mainly from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka. There were students from other parts of India as well. The students will be split into multiple groups depending on the subject, and peer learning is one of the best ways to tackle MBBS. There are no CP marks as such. Students attend classes genuinely, and that is the only way forward.
Internships Opportunities
There is a mandatory internship, CRRI, that every student needs to go through in order to get their MBBS degree. The stipend was low in our college at around Rs. 2500/month. There are colleges with unpaid internships, and there are colleges with Rs. 30k/month stipends as well. Medical colleges function completely differently from other courses. There are no placement reports. Pictures from the internship period cannot be shared owing to the patient's privacy.
Placement Experience
MBBS colleges don't have final placements. Students finish their degree, and they sit for NEET-PG, which is another exam that one must qualify for in order to get a PG seat in India. Students opt for other options like pursuing a Residency abroad. And there are very few students like me who would prefer to do an MBA.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition Fees - Rs. 4.5 lakhs/annum Hostel and Mess Fees - Rs. 2 lakhs/annum This fee is higher when compared to the government colleges in the state. But, this fee is much lower than what any other semi-private college or deemed college would be charging. The other expenses vary according to individuals with an average of Rs. 2000/month There are different scholarships for individuals and usually in a year around 5 can claim it.
Campus Life
There are multiple arenas for various sports. There is a gym as well. There is no swimming pool on the campus. The auditorium and library are known to be one of the best in South India. The college campus is around 100 acres. Relatives aren't allowed to stay back on campus, but there is a separate parent accommodating block nearby. The campus life was mostly filled with academics and delivering or assisting treatment for patients. There are spots to hang out at night. Nightlife in the hostel blocks is solid. There are only a couple of significant events. And there are no clubs and committees as such.
Hostel Facilities
There are separate hostels for boys and girls, and neither is allowed to enter other hostels. There are only two hostels, and these can accommodate more than 400 students in one hostel. Hostel allocations are random, and it's single occupancy. No timings were levied. There is a mess block beside the hostel blocks, and the food quality is decent. The hostels are guarded by five security personnel. All the rooms are single occupancy rooms with multiple top-quality facilities. There are individual washrooms in every room, and cleaners are available 24/7 to help. Common or recreation rooms are present in the basement of both the hostels.
Exam Structure
The admission process starts after the NEET-UG exam which is usually conducted in May. Post this, the results will be announced a month later. Due to the ongoing court case regarding NEET-UG in Tamil Nadu, the counselling process got delayed and the first counselling happened in the last week of August followed by two other rounds of counselling before October. Every year, there has been some hassle regarding NEET and there is no definite date for any of the above. NEET-UG is the only exam that is considered all through the country. There is no definite safe score. There are Management quotas and NRI quotas through which students take admission as well.
Faculty
yes students fails, test usually comes from the topics mentioned in classroom itself there are 9 classes from 9 am to 5 pm . Faculties work pretty hard to make each student understand the topics and answer doubts clearly sometimes classes gets cancelled attendance is not much of a big issue so no such thing just a bit scolding from teachers or you have to submit assignments for compensation
