5 Supreme Court Rulings that Embark our Country’s Progress

Supreme Court has been giving back to back hits since some time now. Justice Dipak Misra has been on a roll before his term ends. It is just as if he had decided to set all things right before stepping down as the Chief Justice of India.

If you were someone who had given up on law in our country for some or other reason, Darling, you are in for a surprise. Supreme Court has now astounded us all by rolling out some amazing judgements that will blow us off (in a good way!)

So if you are someone who goes like “ye court hai Mr. Tyagi, yaha kuch jaldi nhi hota”. Dipak Misra is the baap here, he be like “Kanoon andha hota hai, judge nahi”.

Ending all your apprehensions over our law and order, CJI made a full boss move by passing some judgements that made us weep happily and stand proudly.

Some of the most talked about Supreme Court judgements are as follows

1. #LoveisLove

Love is Love

With decriminalisation of section 377, there are many who bowed down before SC. One of the much awaited decision made on 6th September that legalised gay sex restored our faith in Indian Judicial System.

2. Sabarimala Temple

Sabarimala Temple, Kerala

Most recent judgment passed by Supreme Court, Allowance of women in Sabarimala Temple, Kerala. One of the ages old prohibition that is uplifted by Supreme Court was welcomed by people of Kerala. Quoting Dipak Misra, “The practice in Sabarimala temple violates the rights of Hindu women. It has to be in harmony with the Constitution”

3. Validity of Aadhar

Validity of Aadhar

One of the government’s move that brought in way too many criticisms. There were every sort of apprehensions with linking of adhaar with every damn thing. Being no bias to any side, Supreme Court struck down Section 57 of Aadhar Act. It said private companies cannot ask for aadhar and it is certainly not mandatory for opening bank accounts or for mobile connections.

4. Adultry

Adultry

Another one of SC’s historic judgement, SC underlined that Section 497 of penal court stated that the law treats husband as the master. To prioritize the consent of women during a sexual intercourse, SC scrapped Section 497, thereby, making it one of the historic judgements.

5. Triple Talaq

Triple Talaq

One of the most thought provoking practice followed by Muslims in India. Triple Talaq or also known as Talaq-e-biddat states that a man can legally divorce his life by stating the word ‘talaq’ three times either orally, in written or even in electronic form. With support of government, SC made this practice illegal, restoring the faith of Muslim women.
