I was very keen on pursuing a college that is a strong school of Psychology. Bangor University is one of the top universities in the UK that has a great department of Psychology. Also, keeping in mind the financial aspect, not being a university in London, it got down my living expenditure by an average of 30%. And Wales is beautiful. For anyone who is a lover of nature, this is the place to be in.
Course Curriculum
The curriculum is relevant and up to date with the current research and advancements made in the field of Psychology. It is laid out in a way to cover all the necessary domains a student needs to learn about in the field of Clinical and Health Psychology.
Exams
The minimum requirement for an IELTS score is an all-over 6.5 band, with a minimum of 6.0 in each category. I got an exemption from filling in for my IELTS score based on my grade 12 English marks which were more than 90%.
Placement
There is a separate Careers and Employability Department to help students with their job prospects. They help the students in developing their CVs, apply to the right job sites, etc. There are continuous workshops and orientations to help students plan their way ahead better.
Internship
No, I didn't get the internship.
Events
The university has a number of clubs and groups that the students can join. There are a lot of volunteering programs within the community that they can also be a part of. I was a part of a number of clubs along with that I also volunteered for a Comic Relief Project in a local old age home. Sports activities like archery, kickboxing, etc are also provided by the university's Sports College. A fully equipped library is present at two different locations for ease of access to the students. Wifi connection is great and uninterrupted.
Fees
£17,800 is the program fee.
Scholarship
I got the British Council 70th Anniversary Scholarship, awarded to 100 women across India to pursue a course in the field of STEM education. I was nominated by the university directly for the scholarship. It was not open for students to directly apply. I had to write addition 5 short essays, followed by a telephonic interview.
Faculty
Each student is allotted a personal tutor who they can approach at any point during their academic year for concerns relating to academics or non-academic. They are your go to person. The faculty was incredibly supportive and encouraging. Being an international student, I did not face the burn even once due to the support that came from all of them individually.
