I chose to pursue my course at University of Bath as I had a prior learning experience from them when I attended their Winter school. I always wanted to pursue my Masters from this University because of their prestigious ranking and the location of the city. There are many Indians so you don't feel away from home at any given point. Their teaching was supposed to be one of the best in the UK and the opportunities you get once you graduate from Uni of Bath is wonderfull.
Course Curriculum
The course that I pursued was a relatively new course; around 5 years old. I had already studied a lot of it in my undergrad so some things were repeated but the way they assess you is very different from the Indian assessment style. The UK has a very traditional way of teaching, few young faculty try to be different but the older ones are following their traditional approach.
Exams
Admission Requirements are as follows: 1. IELTS - My score was 7.5/9 (With a minimum of a 6.5 in all 4; speaking, reading, writing, listening) 2. SOP (250 to 1000 words) 3. Two Recommendation Letters 4. Undergrad grade - 2:1 5. Updated Resume Please note - Candidates with extra curricular experience hold a good chance of getting into the University of their choice.
Placement
University of Bath has many tie ups with leading companies in the world. The careers team helps us at every step of the way but there is no placement as such. There are career fairs that take place where companies come in, tell you how to apply and what are the jobs available. It is difficult to get a job in the UK purely because of the kind of competition there exists. It is not impossible but very difficult. For students that need sponsorship, it becomes all the more difficult.
Events
The campus life is extraordinary. University of Bath has one of the most beautiful campuses in the UK. There are more than 20,000 students studying at the University. The infrastructure is beautiful, all their buildings are freshly made. The university and the students union hold a lot of events every week. The university has one of the best sporting facilities and so there are number of events that take place with regards to sports too. The wifi has high-speed internet throughout the campus.
Scholarship
Yes I did receive a £5000 scholarship. The name of the scholarship was School of Management Scholarship. The process was as follows: Once I got an offer letter, you receive an invitation to apply for the scholarship. You have to answer around 3 to 5 questions which they ask, based on your answers they decide to give you a scholarship.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio would be 1:60. The faculty is very good, very knowledgeable. They are also very responsive on their emails and approachable before or after your classes. They really go out of the way to make sure you have understood everything that was taught to you.
Hostel
I was living in the facility owned by the University in the city. It was a very good property. I was living in a studio where I had my own kitchen and bathroom. The cost of the accommodation was £187 per week and was a 51 week contract.
