The university I chose was one of the best in the country for the course I wanted to do. And was a complete change of scenery to what I grew up with going from a city to a countryside on site uni. Is also a top 10 uni which looks good on cvs
Course Curriculum
The course is pretty good. Kinda underwhelmed with the amount of course hours since I think more contact time could be useful however I understand that the adjustment of first year makes sense for the work they give us
Exams
I had 4 A levels and 1 EPQ qualification as well as having some work experience in the field I was trying to get a degree in
Placement
Many of the teachers are active in the field as they teach which really helps me feel involved in the kind of work I want to peruse by making it all seem tangible. For almost every course a year placement or abroad is also an option which means that people can get involved with it as they want.
Internship
The uni offers a Lancaster uni award in place of the Russel group award or certificate. I think internships are available if you actively ask or search however in the first year it's not really a focus so far despite being encouraged.
Events
There are a weekly farmers market and all the societies host events and the social night on Wednesday is run by the students union. Lots of things such as LGBT month are also celebrated well however not everything as advertised.
Fees
The uni charged the top price that they can and then the accommodation fees as well. There is also a 30 pound collegiate membership fee that I think should be optional since the system is mandatory for the uni. Some societies also cost money.
Examination Structure
Exams for my course never make up over half of my modules and it's fairly coursework heavy but for my creative subject, this is what I want. So far exam structure has not been explained pripperly and I think they should work on introducing it earlier.
Faculty
I think it's overpriced but that almost everything is of high quality and that the constantly improving infrastructure is meant to make the uni seek innovative however it also sometimes gives me the impression that it's incomplete And at times the staff can seem rude or unhelpful over genuine mistakes.
