Leicester had good academics and was geographically situated well. It's kind of central so I can travel easily. I saw it was a top-ranked university. Also, there were only about four other options through my home universities study abroad program.
Course Curriculum
It's really thorough and I wish I was able to take all the modules in the English course here. As a study abroad student my course load is quite light but I love all the learning. I only wish there were more lectures and seminars.
Exams
SAT, ACT and AP testing. I think my SAT score was 2000 or something. I got a 5 on my AP English exam, 4 in Environmental Sciences.
Internship
Not for me, I am a study abroad student. I have no idea what the internship program is like here. My home university does not guarantee internships but I had one on my own last summer.
Fees
I paid tuition fees through my home university and housing fees through the University of Leicester. I could opt to pay all at once or in instalments and I chose instalments. When I was late on a payment they sent me a notice by email. I paid for it and it was resolved.
Examination Structure
They have 1 final paper at the end of the module. Sometimes there is an oral presentation too. This limits stress because I don't have to recall details I learned in class but I would appreciate being able to test my knowledge before the final paper.
Faculty
They are very competent. I have some amazing faculty lectures. I am pleased with the quality of their teaching.
Hostel
Campus accommodation, I live in a student village a 40-minute walk from campus. I live in a house that houses eight people. We are self-catered and have a sizeable shared kitchen with plenty of fridge and cupboard space.
