Apart from being a highly reputed and ranked among top 20 in the world, an attractive factor was the location of university. Edinburgh is one of most scenic cities and the environment / culture is very friendly at the university.

Course Curriculum

10

We don't have course in PhD but considering my interactions with students and the teachers, it is pretty up to date and students are well trained. I know for sure I was nothing close to the level of students here in my undergraduate degree.

Exams

For PhD, admission requirements are to get a supervisor willing to supervise you and IELTS for English Language. There is no requirement of GRE.

Placement

9

There are regular events and visits from the companies for placement. I haven't heard many students going without work.

Internship

Not yet. There are opportunities but I haven't opted for any so far.

Fees

£26700

Scholarship

Yes, I received scholarship from Higher Education Commission Pakistan, it helped in securing admission as well. Funded positions in engineering were very few at my time due to Covid and related financial obligations.

Faculty

9

I am not particularly sure about the ratio but there it is around 10:1. You can get all the help required other than your class as well with an active Tutor and Demonstrator system in place. Faculty comprises of researchers and teachers and mostly all of them are willing to help.

Campus Life

There are multiple campuses in the city, every one with its own facilities. You can easily get a Harry Potter vibe as well since most of the building are designed with a stony look. You can get all the facilities from sports, libraries, food, all in different sizes and locations. Societies and extra curricular events help you mold your personality as well.

Hostel

9

I am living in a private rented property. You can get a private room ranging from £400 to £700 depending on the location and property type. Starting on the lower end away from the city center in shared flats to independent rooms and studio flats. You can also get luxurious flats as well, they can go up to $1000 per month.
