I choose University of Hertfordshire due to the following reasons - • Ranking - One of the top universities in the world. • Duration - 1 year program, with same academic standards as a 2 year program. • Affordable - Not as expensive as colleges in USA or Australia. • Best for business studies - UK colleges are highly decorated for their excellence in business studies. • Practical approach - Mode of education is not only theoretical but practical as well. For example - Setting up and running a company is a part of the curriculum.
Course Curriculum :
UK is known for it's business studies and the coursework is designed keeping in mind the latest market trends. I can assure this as we have been having regular weekly sessions on how to set up and run a business keeping the current market trends in mind. These sessions are conducted by professors who have industry experience of more than 2 decades.
Exams :
I was selected on the basis of my overall profile. For example in my case, my work experience, educational background, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities helped me in getting the offer letter from UH. My English proficiency test was waived off as I had 80+ in English in my 10+2. However I gave my IELTS and got an overall band score of 7.
Placement :
The university is visited by both national and international companies, such as Warner media entertainment, Microsoft, Tesla motors, Amazon, KPMG, just to name a few. Roles offered are of brand managers, HR managers, consultants, auditors and many more. Placement rate is approximately 90% with a starting salary of £35,000 - £40,000.
Internship :
Students can take part in the job fair organized by the university or they can apply through platforms like LinkedIn, Indeed, Handshake,etc. In case if the student is taking part in the job fair, sessions are booked with the companies participating in the university's job fair. Students can apply for the internship by applying their CVs on the company's internship portal and if the student is selected he/she might be contacted regarding further process. Stipend amount varies from company to company.
Fees :
The tution fees for MBA is £16000 for the (2022/2023) academic year(For International students).
Scholarship :
No, I didn't receive a scholarship from the college as there was a lack of funding in college due to the covid pandemic.
Faculty :
The university has an abundance of highly skilled and qualified facilities. Many of which have been decorated business professionals and even celebrated book authors, giving away all the secrets of the market. Even after such high qualifications faculties will always be there to solve your little quarries like how to access the time, conducting zoom meetings, etc. Overall both the faculty and the staff are just an email or a call away.
Campus Life :
The university offers a wide range of clubs and activities ranging from religious to sports. Students are free to join as many clubs or sporting events they want. Events are organized within the clubs as well as by the university. Students can party with their friends in 'The Forum' where they can easily meet & greet people from all kinds of different backgrounds. The university has a learning resource center (LRC) which has both the real and virtual library. Students can also access the studynet which is a virtual learning environment with tools to enhance your knowledge and learning.
Hostel :
Rooms are spacious and are well equipped with all the basic facilities to make the stay of the students comfortable. Facilities like bathroom and kitchen are shared but the number of students using them varies depending upon the accommodation. Other than this every accommodation area has it's own laundry rooms.
