  • Master of Arts in Photography at the University of The West of England is a 15 months program.
  • It is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis.
  • The program starts in the month of September.
  • The course is affiliated to and accredited by the Association of Photographers who are a leading professional organization representing photographers both nationally and internationally.
  • The program is taught by award-winning artists, photographers, and leading academics in the field, distinctive, practice-based.
  • The course includes 10 hours of contact time a week, which incorporates all the academic teaching and learning, technical workshops, and engagement with industry visitors.
  • The core modules of the program are:
    • Enquiry and Context 
    • Developing Practices
    • Consolidating Practices I  and II
    • Dissemination in Professional Contexts
  • MA in Photography will allow students to explore the diverse applications of the medium, and to deepen their understanding of photography as a discipline.
  • The course includes guest lectures, intensive week-long workshops, practice-based interactive activities, and individual portfolio reviews with professional practitioners and industry leaders, including curators, editors, publishers, producers, art buyers, agents, gallerists, and designers.
  • Assessment of the program includes project reviews, essays, reflective diaries, presentations, and reports, as well as assessing their portfolio of work.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students should have skills and experience in photography or related subjects.
  • Applicants will have an undergraduate degree but applicants with other qualifications or professional experience are also encouraged to apply.

Indian Students Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Students have to complete a 4-year undergraduate degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
  • Students must complete a Higher Secondary School Certificate/Indian School Certificate – Standard XII from CBSE/CISCE/WBCHSEB: English Language with 70%. This qualification must have been completed within the last three years.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
