  • During the fieldwork period, students will have engaged in a rigorous research exercise and produced a well-resolved and argued design at strategic, building, and detail design scales.

  • Students are also offered a series of studio sessions and hands-on workshops, offering support in research skills and techniques.
  • The weekly seminars, plus additional research workshops, provide a framework to explore a variety of research approaches from a range of relevant disciplines available in the Department.
  • The course requires regular written, visual, and oral presentations in the studio.
  • At the beginning of the Easter term of their first year of study, students commence work on their approved program of fieldwork and focus on their dissertation project.
  • MPhil in Architecture and Urban Design students wishing to apply for a PhD must achieve an overall total score of at least 70.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students should achieve a UK High Honours degree from a recognized university.
  • Students accepted for this course will usually have a Part 1 qualification or bachelor's degree prescribed by the Architect's Registration Board (ARB) and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) at a first-class or high level.
  • At least 67 percent or 3.6 out of 4.0 GPA or equivalent is required.
  • Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) or C1 Advanced-Grade A or B (with at least 193 in each individual element) plus a language center assessment.
  • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) or C2 Proficiency-Grade A, B, or C (with at least 200 in each individual element).
  • Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL and PTE to get admission in this program.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they complete one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Completed a 4-year bachelor's degree with first-class in a relevant field such as Architecture, Business Administration, Business Management, Business Studies, or Fine Arts from a recognized institution.
  • Or, completed a B.Sc/B.Com/B.A (3-4 year) degree from well-ranked institutions with an overall grade of 70% or CGPA 7.3+.
