At The University of Hull studying the LLB Law and Legislative Studies youÕll learn to Ôthink like a lawyerÕ, undertake legal research and apply your knowledge of legal and political science to broad social problems and challenges. The first two years of the programme are based in Hull, where youÕll study the concept of law, legal phenomena, and legal systems, combined with the study of political history, UK parliamentary institutions, comparative institutions, political theory, electoral systems, and comparative politics. In year 3, youÕll get unparalleled access to the Houses of Parliament, and gain first-hand experience of law making, working for an MP, Peer or a Parliamentary official.

Studying this course at Hull opens doors of opportunity to those considering a career in government or legal practice. Our graduates are well known throughout the major UK political parties. In fact, we have so many graduates now working in Westminster that theyÕve affectionately become known as Ôthe Hull Mafia.Õ

Future Prospects

While a number of our graduates embark on legal careers as solicitors or barristers, many use their degree as a springboard for a career in management, teaching or the Civil Service. Our strong links with local firms allow for vacation placements, and a series of seminars provided by the Careers Service help you to boost yourÊemployability.
