Internship
I did, actually, I did an internship for two months. I thought it would be more counselling based, I think overall because it was a start-up company. I did. I was in HR. And then I was like, also, like, my intention was to observe counselling sessions. But I was a part of the organisation like I learned other skills you can see. So it myself but one of my friends had suggested it because she knew I was like doing psychology and she I read her new case. So she was she suggested it to me and then I applied I emailed them saying that I'm interested in the internship opportunity. And then they had an interview. Like the Okay, they had confirmed that it's okay. Like they are acknowledge my interest, you can say that I sent and then they had an interview, and then it was a fairly simple process.
So Heriot-Watt, it was actually last minute decision, I must say because I was planning on going to Canada actually. And then I was going to do a food and nutrition course. Okay, but then the plan changed in the end. And then because I was interested in psychology from before, like in 10th grade and then 12. One of my close friends was joining Heriot watt University, and she told me about this university that okay, this sounds like, you know, I'm joining first year and then I had, you know, look like I saw the courses that were available in Heriot-Watt University. And that's when I thought, okay, maybe I should be going forward with psychology, because I've been wanting to do for a while. So that's how I got to go to a friend you can say
Placement
Master's program so not much as most students are working but they do have tie ups with some companies.
Internship
With university -60AED per hour. With Dulsco - 2000 AED a month for 20 hours a week
Placement
There are a lot of job opportunities/research options available to the students after their studies. A number of companies have visited and still do visit the university to let students know about the job opportunities available. Also, there are various graduate programs which enable students to get a job for 2-3 years after graduation.
Internship
Yes. I am currently interning as an administrative assistant. We had the option to choose the place where we wanted to do the internship. Some of these were unpaid and most were paid. Options were available between companies and professional departments within the university. To secure the internship we had to submit an application, pass an assessment and interview. Salary is based on the national pay rate and depends on the firm we work in.
Placement
Not aware of a placement process.
It was close to home (Saudi Arabia) and my siblings also attended the university.
Placement
Job opportunities are nice and plentiful. I do not know much about placements yet but I have seen a lot of alumni work at good companies on LinkedIn so I hope they are good as well. The university has a daily letterbox that you can sign up for that will send you placements the careers services receive and knows about and that has helped me for several applications. In addition, personal tutors and heads of departments also send students some opportunities for internships.
Internship
The university does some internships but does not sponsor you for any. However they are very helpful in helping you get one and the careers services is a wonderful experience and they make sure they answer all your questions.
