You will examine topics such as how globalisation impacts on migrant workforces and what this means for people management; how to understand and analyse complex international employment statistics; how to assess and develop fair and rigorous payment systems suitable for multinational corporations; why expatriate employees often return before the end of their assignment and what steps can be taken to improve their experience and performance and best practice for managing diverse and culturally distinct workforces.
If you wish to pursue a career in people management, people resourcing or employee representation, this programme is for you. No previous experience of human resource management is necessary.
You will be taught by leading academics who have advised leading industries and public services (e.g. BBC, TUC, Acas, Department of Constitutional Affairs, Equal Opportunities Commission, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and Arts Council England) on a wide range of equality and diversity issues in the workplace.
This programme will:
- Demonstrate the central importance of professional international human resource management and employment relations to successful and socially responsible business
- Provide an insight into the key theories, policies and practices of international HR
- Enable you to develop the skills to be able to appraise complex and contradictory areas of knowledge
- Enable you evaluate the appropriateness of the use of qualitative and quantitative research methods in particular contexts.
- Allow you to develop a range of personal skills including presentation, argumentation, evaluation, problem solving, teamwork, self-appraisal, and autonomy in the planning and management of learning.

- Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is a unique number issued to students by Queen Mary which allows students to apply for a student visa with the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) service. When we issue a CAS to students, they are confirming that Queen Mary will sponsor their studies in the UK. Students must have a CAS from Queen Mary to be able to apply for a student visa to study here.
- To request a CAS please select the CAS and Immigration tile in the applicant portal and follow the instructions. Students will not be issued a CAS until they have firmly accepted an unconditional offer, paid any required deposit and the CAS issuing window must be open. Students can apply from overseas up to 6 months before your course start date.
