The modules (lecture courses) offered reflect the research strengths of the School of Mathematical Sciences, and are concentrated in pure mathematics (especially algebra and combinatorics), probability and statistics, dynamical systems, and networks. Students can study mostly pure mathematics, pure and applied mathematics (including, if desired, some astronomy and relativity), or mathematics with statistics.

The Learning Resource centre has 200 networked PCs and is open to students round the clock, there are dedicated workstations for postgraduate students. MSc Mathematics students benefit from access to a large shared office in the Mathematics Building and a dedicated computer network.
You will have access to Queen Mary's comprehensive libraries, including the Postgraduate Reading Room, and The British Library can also be accessed as a research resource. Our library has about 8,000 mathematical books and subscribes to a large number of mathematical journals. There is also access to substantial numbers of electronic journals.

- Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is a unique number issued to students by Queen Mary which allows students to apply for a student visa with the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) service. When we issue a CAS to students, they are confirming that Queen Mary will sponsor their studies in the UK. Students must have a CAS from Queen Mary to be able to apply for a student visa to study here.
- To request a CAS please select the CAS and Immigration tile in the applicant portal and follow the instructions. Students will not be issued a CAS until they have firmly accepted an unconditional offer, paid any required deposit and the CAS issuing window must be open. Students can apply from overseas up to 6 months before your course start date.
