- In the first year of the programme, students will take compulsory modules that are similar to those taken in the first year of other biosciences programmes. In year two, students take a number of compulsory modules, but with some optional flexibility. This flexibility to select their own modules increases in year three so students can focus their studies on their prefered area of interest within the discipline.
- Students may elect to spend an additional year (after year two) gaining invaluable experience in an industrial or research laboratory. Or, after year two, students may transfer to the research-intensive MSci programme for a degree programme totalling four years.
- The final year of the BSc will focus principally on areas of molecular biosciences selected by students and include the opportunity to carry out an investigative literature project and practical group research project on either metagenomics or protein biochemistry.
- Upon successful completion of 360 credits, students will be awarded a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry.
