Aspirants seeking admissions to MCA at Bharathidasan University must satisfy the below mentioned eligibility criteria:

Candidates shall have passed graduation with Mathematics/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Statistics/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Industrial Electronics/ Applied Science (with Mathematics as an allied subject or major subject) from a recognized institute.
Candidates with B.Com/ BBA/ BE/ B.Tech except Computer Science Engineering are also eligible to apply.

For admissions to lateral entry course, candidates with PGDCA/ B.Sc Computer Science/ B.Sc Information Technology/ BCA/ BSc Software Development are eligible to apply.

Bharathidasan University provides direct admissions to its MCA programs. Candidates need not to appear for any entrance test in order to apply for the course. Candidates who successfully fill the application form and fulfill the above mentioned eligibility criteria shall only be considered for further admission process.

The university prepares a merit list of candidates based on their marks in last qualifying examinations.
Shortlisted candidates will be granted final admissions only after the successful payment of tuition fees.

Visit the official website of the university.

Click on ‘Apply Now’. Candidates will be directed to the application portal.
Candidates are first required to pay the application fee of INR 335 (INR 175 for SC/ST) online via SBI, Axis Bank, Indian Overseas Bank or HDFC Bank. After successful fee payment, an online payment reference number will be generated.

Fill the application form with personal and academic details.
Upload marksheet of previous examinations.

Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli MCA Programme Details - Curriculum, Syllabus

The regular MCA program is three years long and is divided into six semesters whereas the MCA Lateral Entry program is divided into four academic semesters.

The entire course is divided into six segments consisting of theoretical, practical, project, elective, professional skill and skill development courses.
The professional course is intended to teach the students Networking Fundamentals, System Maintenance and Administration, Troubleshooting (Computer system and its peripherals), Software Tools and Packages Installation and Assembling Hardware.
From the second semester, students can pick an elective of their choice. Some of the electives available are Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Big Data Analytics, etc.
The fourth semester consists of managerial skill development courses along with an elective.
The course carries a total of 140 credits

Program Structure

Duration: The 3-years MCA program is divided into odd and even semesters wherein June/ July to October/ November is the odd semester and November/ December to April/ May is the even semester.
Evaluations and Assessments: There are internal and external marks allotted for both theory and practical classes. The end-term evaluation consists of a project and dissertation of 20 marks each, report of 40 marks, viva of 20 marks and internal and external examinations conducted in each semester.
Standard of Passing: A candidate will be declared as passed if he/she scores an aggregate of 50% marks in both university examinations and continuous internal assessment (CIA).

Credits: A candidate needs to earn a total of 140 credits to earn a degree. The internal and external marks for practical courses are 40 and 60 respectively and for theory courses, it is 25 and 75 respectively. The project work carries a total of 16 credits.

Examinations: Examinations are conducted at the end of each semester. For odd semesters in the month of October/November and for even semesters in April/May. A total of 3800 marks for the entire 6 semesters are alloted to the MCA program. Candidates with a CGPA above 5.0 will be declared qualified for award of degree.

Financial Aid: A 10% tuition fee concession is for postgraduate students who have studied their undergraduate at the BDU only. The university also offers an exemption in tuition as well as hostel fees for persons with disability along with an institutional scholarship for the same. Candidates can also apply for other scholarships offered by state and central government such as:
