The department functions in two main locations, the main campus at 68th Street and Lexington Avenue and the MFA Studio Building at 450 West 41st Street. The North Building at 68th Street houses the administration and the library and has fully equipped, newly renovated workshops on the 11th floor in photography, graphics, metal, wood, plaster, computer graphics and general painting studios. The basement of Thomas Hunter Hall, the adjacent building, houses the clay workshop. The MFA Building houses the graduate studios, the MFA Gallery, and the graduate photo, wood, metal and ceramics studios.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Applicant must have completed a bachelors degree from an accredited university
- Submit official transcripts of all high school and other education completed
- Official transcripts must contain the overall GPA and success in individual subjects and rigor of the curriculum completed
- Submitting GRE scores of 153 for verbal and top 20% for writing
- Applicants should submit two letters of recommendation from former instructors
- Applicants must submit a statement of purpose describing your goals and how the program will help in those goals
- Submit a writing sample of undergraduate research paper or thesis on a topic related to your area of concentration
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 71 in iBT; 550 in PBT;
- IELTS: minimum 6.5
